There is a weak aura to detect one button rotation use

As the title says, there is now a weak aura that detects one button rotation use in your party/raid. And Twitch streamers have started advocating for its use to harass and exclude players. So watch your back until Blizzard fixes the problem.

If you need one button rotation because of a disability and want to be safe, use the GSE addon instead. The weak aura appears to rely on GCD tracking.

Update: Apparently the author of the weak aura is a RFW participant. So think about that when you’re cheering for them. And sponsors take note. https://www.youtube.com/shorts/c-ub1xYPWEI

Mid players trying to keep down the player base isn’t new lol Been in since Wrath with gearscore…

Used to run ICC25 pugs, after we cleared the 8 or 9 bosses depending on healers for dragon… The same ppl would still be suck looking for ppl in Dalaran :stuck_out_tongue:

Just ignore them and start your own parties and if your guild gives issue time to find a better one

The creativity for toxicity amazes me.

Or just keep doing whatever the hell you want because who gives a crap what some earthworm with a weakaura thinks or says about you?

I suppose in solo shuffle the weak aura can also be used to gain a competitive advantage. It will help identify weak players very early, and you can exploit weaknesses in the one button rotation (force AOE).

People can trick others thinking that they use it as well. I guess if you use it in some point in the game, the wa will trigger (not sure though). If it calculated gcd penalty, it should work that way

Solo shuffle has other problems though. It should be made so that you can’t inspect ilvl of people, and the damage/healing meters shouldn’t be working in it, and no table in the end as well. They don’t have such things in gw2 pvp and it’s way less toxic as you actually have to figure who performed well/poorly and most people just can’t

The weak aura i’ve tested triggers first after 40 seconds of combat log. It looks for suspicious ability use timing. So depending on how good it is coded, one or two fake uses won’t trigger it. And you won’t be able to fake not using the one button by mixing in other buttons either.

The longer the fight, the more accurate the weak aura can get. In raid pugs it will only take you one pull to identify all one button rotation users.

And watch people harassing get disciplined :+1:

You notice that almost instantly though, regardless of if someone is using one button rotation or not.

We went from ‘who cares what others do’ to not wanting others to see, whether obr is used, really quickly. I think what this shows is that we play a mmorpg in the end, and the game needs to be designed around multiplayer, so it really does matter, what others do. People just need to be more clear with how they actually wanna play the game without sugarcoating it. That’s the root issue. OBR was only implemented, because people weren’t vocal enough about button bloat, so Blizzard tried to “fix” the problem. That’s what happens, if elitist players defend button bloat, just cause, so in the end Blizzard tried to please both extremes, and people caught in the middle got the biggest L.

Average players now are too competent to enjoy a one button damage rotation I think, while they’re gonna perform worse without that automation. Really toxic for their experience imo. It’s also just toxic for the type of beginner, who just wants to play manually, and it’s also bad for the elderly, slow players, who prefer manual damage input. OBR definitely created winners and losers though. For some of the ones, I’ve just mentionned, it’s gonna be viewed as a blessing

Not at lower ratings. Being able to identify weak players is the thing that gets you to Duelist. For weak PVPers having an addon point out even weaker players is still an advantage.

So I can use the SBA to trick people into harassing me and then allow me to report them and possibly get them squelched/suspended? Sounds good to me!

Diablo immortal has a more complex damage rotation than the average wow player experience with obr atm. Just sayin

If this is true, it’s incredibly disappointing, to say the least. MMOs are meant to be a collective experience, yet some players seem to believe that, to elevate themselves and their own sense of prestige, they need to exclude others.

This is gatekeeping, plain and simple.

So what if people are using the one-button rotation…
Is it optimal? Probably not.
Is it a detriment to standard content? Probably not.
So who cares?!

Unless you’re pushing high-end content, this isn’t skill — it’s just petty douchebaggery.

And let’s be real: it’s not the hardcore players ruining the vibe.
It’s the wannabes… cosplaying as them. :person_facepalming:

Some people just cannot help but give Blizzard even more incentive to kill off WeakAuras as soon as they can.

What do you think Blizzard will do if they find that people use an addon to harass the players who use their new feature?
