There will be a physical edition or not?

The physical editions were always a state of the art (besides BFA but still there was a physical edition). Now for Shadowlands there is no physical edition at all except from the collector’s edition ?
I have every single game from Blizzard and now I have to move to only “digital” edition? This is not right…

Why should they tell you if there will be a physical copy…? Those are for retail stores for people that don’t play WoW and they come out after the release date. Just wait and see…? Is that too much?

The only physical box is the Collector’s Edition. Everything else is just codes or insta purchase.

It is far kinder to the environment.

I’m amazed no one has started a business selling a plastic box with a cover just for those who want to stick something on a shelf.

Probably because it would be illegal to make a profit from another company’s franchise…?

Lots of people make WoW inspired goods and sell on places like Etsy. A keepsake box for your shelf would be no different.

Blizz could actually provide a PDF version of a printout to do yourself to insert in a case if they wanted to. But I think gaming has moved on from physical boxes in a lot of cases.

I haven’t bought any physical copies of any games since Wotlk with the exception of Rome 2: Total War and Total War: Warhammer (both collectors editions). Every game I own is now in digital format on some game platform. (steam, origin, bnet etc.)

I’m all digital as well

Ditto, althhou when I see collectors edition on a flea market I will definiatly buy those XD

I don’t think you really understand the laws behind this. Etsy is DYI and they never use any print out of literally the actual logo and pictures that are clearly owned by Blizzard. It is different if you make the entire thing yourself.
Someone printing out the cover and putting it in a DVD box to sell for money is not very DIY.

You are free to be whatever armchair expert you appoint yourself as.

What is an armchair expert? Are you making fun of disabled people?

There can still be boxes. Just no game disc, we have reached a point in digital advancement that does you don’t need a game disc anymore.

There are physical boxes in germany for sell so other countries probably have them as well. Collectors edition ofc. And yes (since that was asked before as well in another thread) the German sold one is obviously in german and as such useless for pretty much anyone outside germany.
