There's a Cathedral in WoW. Why not a mosque?

suggesting a in game profession is islamaphobic? i mean, if you put 2 and 2 together and formed a conclusion thats not my problem, sounds like you got your mind made up about muslims doe. shouldn’t tarnish them all with the same brush bud

Troll thread or not, the real reason we have cathedrals is because the classic western fantasy setting is that of early/medieval Europe. It’s rampart in most western fantasy games and media.

Sure with time they added more themes to the game but Humans are one of the 2 original races in the franchise.

on a side note, a zone based on ancient Persia would have been pretty cool. They were suppose to have some pretty mighty structures. think there main religion was muslim, if they took inspiration from a historically fascinating place like that id be cool. aslong as the religion is “implied” but not spelled out in orange crayon.

Also. Even if Blizzard implemented anything that has to with Islam in the game unfortunately for the ignorant part of the islamic society it will be considered as offensive and probably the company will be bashed to the ground in the mainstream media.

Nature, elements, ancients gods and the void amongst other i wow disagree !

you can disagree all you want the holy light and void created the whole universe compared to that what is this other things you mentioned but a bi product of creation

The human kingdoms were based on European medival countries. They were all christian. Paladin comes from this European christian perfect god fearing knight cocept. Up until Warcraft 2 Human faction was actually christian, their churches had crosses and after clicking on them you would hear a prayer in Latin. This was retconned in Warcraft 3, among other retcons to be a church of holy light instead christianity to go away from rear life religion. Still because it’s based on this template of europan medival christinaity they use simiall terminology for temples and places of worship.

Stormwind isn’t a place to put a mosque but maybe if eventually we will get some more areas inspired by arabic culture there could a temple like that. But the problem is who would they worship, they can’t use real life religion and Blizzard wouldn’t dare to put a parody of Muhammad as some sort of prophet.

fair point. if any entity so was so much as suggested to be inspired by that it would probably cause outrage from the more hardcore and sensitive religious crowd. this whole religion thing i think is just very dangerous territory to try get right for bliz. could so so easily go terribly wrong and they would get butchered in the media and what not for it.

This explains everything. If you don’t want to accept it, that’s on you.

Well I suggested a very simple solution to that in my post.
They also worship the Light. They just have different aesthetics.
Different buildings and clothing, more inspired by the muslim world. That way, it’s not too “intrusive”. I feel like it’s a reasonable request, but somehow it’s “trolling” for all the islamophobes on the forums.

Not really,
Paladin is palatinus ,officer of palatium the hill on which Augustus Caesar had house :stuck_out_tongue:

btw term “palace” is from palatium.

Either the thicc thighs or the light, no thicc lights in this game.

serious question, do you not think a fair % of muslims would get offended by NPC’s with certain characteristics and aesthetics, say dark skin, beard, turban, sandals etc. like, muslim is a religion right, you could be the whitest redneck in the world and be a muslim.

i feel like bliz would have to kind of go with the majority on how any muslim NPC’s would look right, i feel like no mater what a lot of people could get offended…i mean this respectfully but its 3am so forgive me if its blunt.

Are female Draenei a joke to you?

So why did they choose Catholicism over Protestantism, or Orthodox, or Baptist, Orthodox ect?

Heh. They could make like 60% of NPCs brown, 20% black and 20% white.
There would still be some accuracy with a majority of arabic-looking NPCs, but there would also be 40% of them that would look different. It sounds like a fair compromise.

Because a Cathedral looks better than the minimalist style church. Also more recognizable than Orthodox or any other kind of Christianity.

Hey if he wants to add more religion in the game then why not, i mean it is all fantasy after all.

I’m completely fine with any kind of Christian representation and imagery in game. I think it can lead to cool lore and aesthetics.
I just wish people were as open minded as I am about other religions and cultures.

People not agreeing with you does not make them any kind of phobic. It means they disagree with you. Deal with it.
