There's something wrong with obliterate

When you get a killing machine proc, you get a free critical OB that doesn’t deal frost damage, so basically 2 of your secondary stats don’t increase it’s damage at all.

Why is FDK scaling so bad exactly?

To be fair, the proc rate of KM scales with crit, making Obliterates consuming KM indirectly scale with it.

for a builder spell OB deal alot of dmg already tbh, plus it gives u the chance of rime for HB 300% frost dmg.

mastery is still one of the top stats to get and it scales fairly well

Feels so good having a chance for HB not to completely suck. /s

Obliterate only doesn’t scale with mastery. It scales with crit.

As KM procs on AA crits, think of KM as a way for random unwanted crit procs to be forced onto obliterate instead. So KM is not wasted crit at all, it’s crit transferred from somewhere else.

As other posters have said Obliterate is reasonably strong for a builder ability anyway and the fact KM forces your crit value onto it makes it even better as it means using your builder is a meaningful part of your damage building as well as resource building.

obliterate does scale with mastery as it triggers Rime which grants you a completely free howling blast, it’s confusing but thing of it like a spread scourge strike.
