I started playing in November 2017 for the increased cost of £9.99 a month. Had prices gone up with inflation since then, that would now be £12.63 a month. That’s about £31 a year, with base expack now costing £40. The rise in expack cost over the years does not compensate for the sub. A base expack going from one every two years to one every 18 months still works out much cheaper than increasing the sub to catch up with inflation. It’s an increase in base gameplay of about £7 a year, still saving players around £24 a year.
You’re quite literally making this up.
Chris Metzen also said they are laying the foundation of the next 20 years of WoW . So you can take that as the next 3 expansions will be over the course of 20 years …
Nothing was specified as to how long they will take and all your “implying” is you interpreting what you want to see .
To me next expansion should be large and hopefully well made , as it it will take 1 more year to come out , meaning they have plenty of time to flesh it out .
I like how people always use the “Epic edition”-price when arguing about the new expansion(s), just buy the base edition then, who says you must buy the bells-and-whistles edition?
4 zones, a raid, 8 dungeons and all the other stuff that comes with it like new systems and such, is not a ‘patch’.
I could understand your point if you just don’t want to pay expansion price more often than once every 2 years… But calling them patches is disingenuous.
I do want to have expansions faster than 2 years. I like having new content.
He did say they’re working on delivering things faster to us (I’m linking the video at the point he says this):
Faster would imply more than once every 2 years.
Whether this will be 1 year, 18 months or whatever, I don’t know.
Where did they say that?
To be fair its very easy to get that impression after watching the opening ceremony.
Chris Metzen said something along the lines of “It is built to play out over multiple expansions over the next few years” when it came to talking about the World Soul saga.
Considering that the WoW team had been hiring previously to increase the team’s numbers I wouldn’t be surprised if the next three expansions were shorter than the release schedule that WoW has had up until this point.
honestly this feels like the people who must have the collectors edition physical box so they can display it on their shelf and forget about it
inflation hasn’t increased the amount they charge. That’s not a justification.
If getting more content faster is akin to abuse for you, it’s REALLY time to quit. Seriously.
What a ludicrous thing to say.
I do not get that impression at all .
How much is a “few” . Few means a small number , but unspecified how much .
To some few could be 2 years , for some it could be 6 or more .
If you know it’s a scam, why are you letting them scam you?
that can also imply, that major content patches and feature updates within xpacs come faster. nothing was said it is xpacs
Two is generally seen as a couple especially where English is the main spoken language, a few is generally seen as three by many but can be between a couple and what people would consider several. Context is important on what is being discussed when we use those words too, I’d say WoW releasing expansions every couple of years currently constitutes a few being more than two so at the bare minimum its three years being mentioned here.
To be honest , I wouldn’t be surprised if they tried to pull a stunt like that , as Metzen might be back , but is the management from Vanilla back ? I do not think so . What I am saying is , it is too early to speculate whether it is a scam or not .
One problem I see with 1 year expansions for instance is that the level cap will skyrocket and we will be back at level 110 before we know it . Whether this is bad or good everyone can judge themselves . I would like longer leveling myself .
They’ve already been doing that for the last year.
So I can’t imagine he was talking about that.
I dont see the problem with splitting the story into 3 expansions as long as there is still the same amount of content we are expecting to get.
Its probably going to work out better given that the Titans and the Worldsoul are pretty epic and involved subjects to try and cram into 1 expansion.
At least this way they have the chance to tell a really good, compelling story.
Think the issue is.
Everything has increased in price, except the price of sub based games. And gaming companies are reliesing this killing their budgets.
WoW simply doesnt make enough money on its current model to develope content at the rate players expect.
If they launch more store items players get angry its not included in the game, so simply do 1 year expansion lengths instead
Also the trend players come for launch, play 2 months and then quit for the rest of the expansion is a trend going no where.
Like df you mean
imagine making 8 dungeons and 4 zones only for 1 patch, basically only 1 m+ season and 1 raid tier.
People can’t be this dumb, oh no they can.
I guess there just won’t be .3 patches and story of each expac will stop on 0.2, doom posting about those expacs being 1 patches each is basically a fear mongering
