They using Chris Metzen to scam us?

Let me get this straight, we will have 3 expansions over the next few years (2-3 at most as Chris Metzen implied). They ditched the 3 major patch expansion and reformulated it into 3 separate expansions. Each with its individual price…

This is like , we would have to pay up to 90 euros for every new patch.

To be honest, I wouldnt say its scam but they using the same tactic phone companies are using. Instead of buying a phone with a charger and case and earbuds as it happened back in the days, now you buy them separate. Not even a charger is included anymore.
Thats how WoW will be. No more major patches with individual themes, now they are expansions that you have to pay for

If it becomes an faster content cycle then it is now, take my money!!

edit: also, where did they say 2-3 years… it will stay the normal cycle id guess… just laying the path more open.

How did you manage to see into the future?

The day after Blizzcon is like cleaning up a cruise ship that had an outbreak of the scutters.

To be fair, Chris said that these 3 expansions will be over the course of few years. Implying a fast pace, saying that we wont have our grandkids helping us with the mouse and keyboard to finish the Saga
So I agree its basically the old format of a 3 major patches, redone into 3 expansions that you have to pay individually for. I dont mind to, as long as they are solid but its obvious what they are doing.

I’d rather have faster delivered expansions than the long months with nothing really happening at the end of an expansion.

How long did we have siege of orgrimmar? Was it 14 months? Yeah, that sucked.

Yes, I watched it too
they implied it was going to be faster so how does that equal these xpacs are just going to be patches? They are bringing in something new and all anyone has to go on is the old, these xpacs will carry on whatever new systems are going to be brought in that work instead of abandoning everything and starting afresh.
To scream SCAM at that is a classic example of the knee jerk response.

Everyone understands vague things differently. I wouldnt call it scam, but it is questionable marketing tactic. Turning 1 expasion with 3 major patch into 3 expansions and charging them individually…
Look at BFA for example, that could have easily be split into 3 expansions as well, considering we went with the story arch all over, and all over the world map as well.

So instead of paying for 1 solid expansion with 3 patches, 50-90 euros, we pay now triple. All they did was taking the major patch name, and called them expansions.

Blizz subs have not risen with inflation. An increased frequency of releases with a three tier pricing structure actually benefits players.

You don’t have to pay anything, if you think you’re not going to like what’s coming based on a lack of understanding then don’t buy them. You are in control of what you do and do not purchase for leisure and entertainment, if you actually feel forced to spend money on something you don’t want or like you need to see a psychiatrist.

If they were to remove the sub fee or include WoW in game pass, it would certainly justify paying 90 bucks per piece. I have a hunch they might head in that direction.

Do you remember the road map of Dragonflight? These 3 major patches and 2 minor in between? The major patches turned into expansions and the minor , into major patches.
For me is also clear what they doing

Is not that we dont want to, is that we realized whats happening and is a bit of a twisting somebodys arm. Manipulating somebody who loves you, because you know they wont leave you, so you give them abuse

I had a similar impression. I don’t have any definitive feelings on it because it depends on quite a few things whether this impression is correct. I’m curious tho whether it’ll actually mean more content, just faster paced, or whether it’ll effectively mean paying more frequently (ergo: more) for what we used to get anyway.

I think the pacing and actual content of TWW, and then the initial content of Midnight will create more clarity on this. Till then it’s difficult to conclude anything final I think.

I personally wouldn’t complain if they did but I doubt they’d change the price too much.

We specifically bought Gamepass Ultimate so we can use it on both the Xbox and PC, having the Blizzard subscription included in that would be a bonus for myself and any others who have it.

So is this suppose to be like the ESO or GW2 model for expansions?

Also hard to tell if they raised the level cap or not.

If not do hope they raise max level for chromie to… max level and let you stick with it.

I think with TWW the level cap will be 80? I could imagine with the hero talents, after that one perhaps we may look at horizontal progression tho. It’s one of the things I’m curious about, it would remove the need for Blizzard to create leveling content while selling it as something special and desirable.

And an edit: and it actually might be a good thing if that means updating content that is already there. So even that can either be ‘cutting costs’ or ‘omg so cool’. I have no idea!

That’s exactly my issue with this whole thing. To be honest I expected something like this much earlier. When Activision fully consumed Blizzard. Still, we call them expansions? They are not. Not compared to previous ones, fewer … everything really, except the price. We pay the same as if it was a full expansion. Anyway, I don’t care about the money. Honestly to me preordering was more of a show of faith in their company, which I lost exactly because of this.
