They using Chris Metzen to scam us?

It’s a product designed to entertain an audience. There would be no point to making it if there is no audience for it, or if it isn’t enjoyable to a majority of their playerbase. The product doesn’t exist in a vacuum, it’s normal, and healthy if done constructively, that there will be a back and forth between the product designers and their audience.

The norwegian economy sounds a lot better than it is. The average income is also way higher than what the majority earn. The economical “crash” started last year, where all prices sky rocketed. My partner is dutch, and yeah, our salaries are way higher, but so are the costs. He had major issues adjusting to our food prices as an example, for a long time after he moved here. I have a full time job, but in a lower income occupation(daycare teacher sort of). As he said, he understood why our salaries have to be this high, when he sees what everything cost. The cost of loans also went up greatly. We’re just being strangled economically atm, as they want to battle inflation.

As for my situation, we are doing fine, but that is because we’ve become really good at cutting costs. We’ve cut down almost “to the bone” now though, so I cannot justify paying for WoW if they do a similar thing as with OW to it. For now it’s fine, but I no longer find the sub fee cheap.

I think this is the case in quite a few places atm, it unfortunately affects a lot of people. I hope the situation will change for the better in not too long, it sucks!

Use analytical thinking and realize that what they doing is pretty obvious. As the phone companies sold initially their phone with case+charger+earbuds, now you are buying everything separate = pay more for the same product. The 3 expansion anouncement is just a regular expansions with 3 major patches and and distinct themes (as BFA was), add some bells and whisles…some razzle dazzle and BOOM, 3 expansions voila …give me 50 (but 90 euros if u want early access), 3 times more often hehe
Lets not be naive.

Indeed it is obvious so not much analytical thinking needed. And as you so correctly observe it follows a common pattern. Does not make it a scam though.

4chan? Got any credible sources for this bs?

Or maybe they have planned 6 years in advance and have decide to announce where there going. There doesn’t need to be some ulterior motive. The second two expansions are basically just names. Say they announce original tbc and wrath all in one go in 2003 it’s that kind of idea

the source was the he made it up … which to be fair is a crediable source among their peers …

Why make these smirky, know-it-all comments?
Anyway, I’ll tell you why. WoW has 20 years of content, not all of it sucks. If the current patch suck the whole game sucks. To avoid this, you make all content somewhat relevant. Be it for timed raid runs or a recolor of the Mythic set. When you fully gear in Mythic raid now you’re done, there’s no reason to utilize the maxed out character.

Hence the first word in the f’in sentence, wiseguy, “improved,” and I’ll tell you what’s a waste of resources: putting an effort making a whole new feature and use it for marketing to sell an expansion only to throw it away if it doesn’t work on the first attempt. Think before you make such statements.

Again, because if the patch sucks the whole game sucks, when the previous 20 years of content don’t.

It is, it’s just an established aesthetic in this game’s universe. Anyway, why write that you guess it’s valid updating EK and Kalimdor if not for that exact reason: have the Warcraft we all know and love in a modern fidelity?

No, they use your addiction and the fact that most people will buy their poop at the highest price while offering a low quality product to scam you

Most of the content like this won’t be played even if they’ll improve it ten times or so, unless they’ll become absolutely not repetitive with most engaging gameplay possible.
And of course making them evergreen staple of the game is impossible even if they are good, noone will allocate resources for making warfronts or torghast evergreen, they are failed game modes, and having too little in terms of potential developing further.
Delves are promising because they will be supported as long as game lives (and if community will like it), and they are realistic for blizzard to actively upgrade them, we even already have sniffen digs which are something like coming delves.

What if some of the previous content will suck too, if patch sucks you could stop your subscription and play something else.

Updating ek and kalimdor will make them bigger for new flying system, also will make story in-line with latest expansions because as of now we have many long dead characters and outdated plotlines in cata questing.
I don’t care about nostalgia

They ditched it because people drop like flies in the middle part of an expansion. Ever tried to run a raiding guild? First tier people are everywhere. Next tier, bit less. One after that? basically dead. Then they all return for the final tier. It makes literally zero financial sense to develop Trial of the Crusader or Eternal Palace when no one logs in to play it. People forget just how dead these patches were.

This is the exact same formula Mists of Pandaria used, but instead of having 14 months of SoO, we’ll have 6-7 months of Emerald Dream, then 4 months of Fated, then new expansion probably in September.

In Mists of Pandaria the 5.1 and 5.3 patches are what we have today as 10.0.5 and 10.1.5.

Also, i’d be wary of calling things a scam or a rip off. Look around you. Most games launch in terrible states, cost £60-£70 and sell you every cosmetic that isn’t WoW’s equivalent of green questing gear, while also selling you a subscription just to enjoy the game in the form of a monthly or every other month battlepass. You aren’t a little kid anymore asking your parents for £30 for TBC anymore. You’re an adult, presumably with a job, who can work for a couple hours and come up with £40.

You guys will complain and moan and whine until you end up with a f2p hell-game, where instead of getting arena rating and unlocking a cool armour set, you’ll just pay £25 for it instead. Where instead of getting the mount to drop off of Fyrakk, you’ll just pay £40 instead. Bags full? Pay £20 for another 20 slots. Usable up to 4x per character. Annoyed at repairing your gear and selling your items? Have an auto repair and salvager for £20.

No thanks. £40 every 2 years, and a monthly subscription of £10 is literally the best value for money and quality you will get in 2023, and best of all, if you don’t like it, you can literally just stop playing, and you won’t feel like you just got scammed because you spent £700 on RuneScape or GW2 or CSGO or Diablo 4 skins, and now can’t stop playing ever, even for a year, as your sunk cost fallacy keeps you from doing anything other than hanging around and continuing to consoooooooom

Diablo 4 is how every Blizzard game will end up, and its people like you guys that will push them there. You think the D4 expansion is going to be free because they made an ocean of money selling skins and battlepasses? LOL! Nope - prepare for your £40-£50 expansion, the exact same as WoW, but instead of getting everything in the game with that £40-£50, you’ll get a thin, slice of everything in the game, then be immediately stonewalled as the game asks you to swipe to unlock the £70 horse

or the £20 set of weapons.

me? i’ll enjoy my £40 expansion for WoW, with the 4 or 5 dozens of armour sets that came with it, and the 4 or 5 dozen mounts that come with it, and the 4 or 5 dozen weapons that come with it.

Excuse me, are we talking about 8.2 Mechagon&Nazjatar patch? Dead? Are you out of your mind? If they were “DEAD”, I don’t think there is a word to describe what’s happening in dragonfail.

You forgot that boosting exist and everything already is in the situation you described.

They are failed when left in the bin. You state it as facts, but it’s only your opinion, while in my opinion Warfronts have some of the most potential out of any other feature besides the core features and also relates more to WC3 RTS elements than anything else. I still do them weekly for mogs having no problem finding people and the general sentiment in those groups is that it’s a shame it was wasted. It could be further improved upon for PvE aswell as made a PvP version of, therefore giving more zones a reason to be updated and filled with content without having to re-design the questlines for the whole classic map all the while keeping the war in warcraft alive.

So we agree then? Because this is my argument, not yours. They are, so did Warfronts seem to be, as well as Choregast and Island Expeditions. But if not supported for longer than an expansion then of course not.

Some will, sure, but having 20 years to choose from allows for certain things to suck. Think of it percentage wise, 2 out of 100 dungeons suck, 2% of the game sucks. 2 out of 8 dungeons suck, 25% of the game sucks.

So you agree with me again then? Are you one of those so keen on arguing you don’t even make sure you disagree with them beforehand? Because my point was this exactly read:

Wanting Warcraft vibes back is not about nostalgia, it’s about expecting a consistency this universe has provided that even Mist of Pandaria had visually, artwise and storywise despite everyone’s concerns. I’ll say it lasted till BfA but we haven’t had it since.

Good administration and accountancy would solve this but that takes effort so it is a no no.

If we get more “smaller” expansions but the price is the same, sure.

Three, 20€ expansions, or one big 60€ expansion in the same time period ? Doesn’t really make a difference to me.

What I wouldn’t really like is being told that [insert issue here] will be addressed next expansion, because the fast pace means that there are less continuous work on the current one.

I shall ask the mighty 8 ball to part the curtains of time for us and reveal the truth!

Outlook not so good

Didn’t they later say that the 3 expacs would last until around 2030?
