Death is boring. The mechanic of travelling back to your body is boring. I feel like Shadowlands missed a great opportunity to expand the entire limbo state of your character dying by not expanding on the wibbly blue world, and having specific questlines that literally required you to die, rather than stepping through another portal.
For example, puzzles that could onbly be solved by being dead, npc’s and shops that only exist in the dead world.
A whole quest chain and items that can only be used and only effect things in the dead plane. specific dungeons that start as normal until you reach an unkillable boss who TPKs everyone, only for you to realise its vulnrable in the spirit realm when damaged in the physical realm, forcing half your party to be alive, and half dead.
New class types, some kind of necromancer death speaker who can assist in ‘crossing over’ or summoning creatures that only exist there
Just a thought and lots of ideas, but like I say, I was dissapointed that it was just another new zone with samey things just with a different skin.
I think they really should expand the wibbly wobbly blue dead bit though
