Things to do while waiting for shadowlands?

Before anyone has a go I know there is loads of content still to do in-game but I was wondering what the best things to do in the build-up to shadowlands being released would be?

What are all you guys doing and any recommendations?

The best things to do are what you find fun and enjoyable.

You can always get a Longboi if you do not. Should keep people busy a bit.

Make gold, transmog, achievements, mounts, pets, RP.

Plenty to do to have fun and kill some time.

There’s no way of prepping for SL, if that’s what you mean. All the epic and legendary gear will be replaced by greens first few lvls. Some nice transmogs though.

Probably the neck is given back to the world soul of Azeroth, hopefully we get a little ceremony and meet it. (her? some sort of titan would have a gender…?)

I don’t think there will be much activity in island expeditions or warfronts, so get what you want from there.

Some tips here:

wow during these times feels like having a holiday before the next big job.

I tell you my list what i do in end of extension after content cleared with my main if you want some idea :smiley: :

  1. Spamming random battlegrounds : Farming Honorable kill achievement always been a goal for me, like the title with 250 000 honorable kill is pretty cool :smile:. I got REflex addons too so everytime i do random BG i try to beat my best on kill /death :smiley:.
  2. Pushing M+ with guildies & friends : Simply as it is but it’s a good way to push with them and having fun, even above +15 so you make a R io with your friend not intentionnaly and you get soo much fun with them :smile:.
  3. Ranked PvP : I like PvE and PvP since Cataclysm, but i oftenly do PvE first and i never got time in game when i’ve finished PvE with my main to start my ranked PvP, so when extension end i know i got time to do Ranked Arena and having new mate for Ranked in battle.tag list when i’ve got fun with them :smiley:.
  4. Alting : always good to see content from an another point of views, i do alting when i feel bored with my main and doing the same content ( PvP for example).
  5. Old content : i don’t casual often, but the end of extension is pretty good to farm transmog for the next extension, so you make a ā€œstockā€ of transmog and you know when you gonna change transmog in SL you gonna get new option for transmog :smile:.
  6. Mythic raiding : It’s when i still want difficulties to be better, but actually i don’t do it often since there’s no good mythic guild in my realm so i must PUG everytime.
  7. Gold making : Actually i’m all over it for the Long Boy Auction House. but it’s pretty good to farm gold for Shadowlands so you can buy everything you want in Black market Auction house or in normal Auction house. It’s good for in the case you love collecting mount.
  8. Profession : After the gold making profession is good liek engineer if you farm Jeeves or something like that.
  9. Changing faction : sound normal but i’m too stuck to the alliance since i love hard alliance racial than horde racial. And when i switch it’s like a new game for it ( and i’m like a beginner when i level up horde character from level 1).
  10. Old quest : As a fan of the lore, i try to go to region i never quested before and discovering everything about the lore. For exemple before i could never have the time to see quest description of Dragonblight desolation horde quest side, and now i could see the ending cinematic with my own eyes ( i mean not on Youtube :smile:)
  11. Pet battle : i don’t like that but since legion there’s world quest that consist of doing pet battle and that give reputation. So i try to do it but all feature above motivate me better than this.

I hope you will get fun with all of that. This is i always do in the end of the extension. My list is like a ā€œrankingā€ of what i love to do best.

That help a lot to wait shadowland :smile:

Play another game, honestly.
The only reason I’m still subbed atm is because I have several months of sub left (because of RaF stuff and such).

League of Legends :rofl:

Thank you for all the replies.

go to the gym?

Mostly before new expansions you do things that are going to still be relevant in the next expansion, things like…

  • Maxing out reputations or getting what you need from them, patterns or what not. Usually rep gain is boosted and made a lot easier to gain near the end of an expansion and therefore you save a lot of time compared to release and you never know what might be valuable again on the release of the new expansion as new players and alts come in.

  • Max professions, might be able to do something useful for the expansion, enchants or just bags, mount speed buffs. It’s not as important as before since they don’t make you level up professions like you used to, to be relevant and prepared for the next expansion but it’s still not a bad idea

  • Level alts, typically a good time to catch up alts is at the end of an expansion. There’s better heirloom gear, less population, other perks they typically add in game for leveling speed. This is especially important if you’ll be maining something else come next expansion.

*keep in mind with Shadowlands there will be a new leveling system so it’ll still be interesting to have a desirable alt to level.

  • Unlock races, get mounts, all that stuff you might had put off for a while. Go get any transmog gear you want from dungeons.

  • maintenance, clear out junk from your bank (minus craft materials), get bigger bags while they’re cheap for alts and the like, have space for new items and gear or other junk you’re not sure you’ll need so you’ll just keep in your bank, delete old alts you don’t intend on playing, consolidate your crap to one character as your banker/mule

Only thing you can do is making as many gold as possible, you can gain huge advantage over others if you have a huge stockpile of golds. Thats what im doing now.

Longboi mount is also a good chase now, only thing that has any value in next xpac.

I have a few things i’m working on. I want to get the all 15 timed achievment. Get curve since i am back into raiding now. Farming blood of the enemy evey now and then when i can stomach going into bg’s. Working on improving in visions. Want to be able to get a 5 mask full clear one day.

When those are achieved and things are getting a bit slow in game i’ll go back to legion to farm rep for the last 2 allied races i dont have. Maybe even level some allied races for heritage? Maybe farm some essences on alts and start doing some m+ on them.

Saving up for longboi aswell, but not going out of my way for that. If i get it its cool, if i dont thats also cool.

There is a lot of stuff to do :thinking::

  • level the professions in alts
  • with the goodies from professions get better at the AH game;
  • collect transmog sets;
  • complete achievements from old expansions, especially those from old raids;
  • raise old reputations to exalted to unlock all the goodies (recipes, toys, transmog pieces);
  • get the heirloom ring from the fishing contest;

I’m sure there’s something I forgot. There is always something more.

Look for things that are account bound, or are quality of life improvments.

  1. Flying in all expansions
  2. Transmog
  3. Relevant things about which you will forget when SL arrives (Allied races)
  4. Level up any possible class so you will be ready for SL meta
  5. Maybe try some other games for breath of fresh air like i did.
