"This Cinematic Is Not Available"

This atrocious message started popping only recently when I decided to return to play some Dragonflight after I’ve only been casualing with the trading post.
So I do some campaign quests and Some cutscene work just fine, all of the ones my character appears in also working fine as far as I can tell.
However it started with the dragons when I had a white text dialong to watch a cutscene, the game would freeze for like 20 seconds and then proceed to unfreeze and show the message “This Cinematic is Not Available”.
I tried a few more times to abandon the quest and re-take and relog and disable addons to try and reactivate it to no avail. So I was like ok sure maybe it’s a one-off, I opened a ticket and continued to watch it on Youtube, not too long after doing some quests, again, another quest another white dialong that activates a cinematic and a repeat.
same thing, nothing works, I keep going to the cinematic where alextraza is saying “first time five aspects are together in a long time” and at the end of it Merithra does some hand magic flair thing, and the cinematic needs to switch scenes to the world tree, that moment the game freezes and again, the dreaded “This Cinematic is Not Available”

after answering the annoying copy pasted messages from the GM tickets, I went over to Shandris near the inn, where she also has a dialog that activates a cutscene, this time I refused to continue until I figure out the issue, restarted, changed folders, removed addons, reset CVAR, messed with the graphics, changed drivers, nothing works.
I have tried everything in the book, from addon disabling to reinstalling the game in a fresh hard drive from scratch. Lowest to Ultra setting, same result every single time.
Now the weirdest part however, 2-3days later, I come to Shandris and it works o_O; like it was never an issue, I continue the quests and again, white dialong, same bloody stupid message. UGH

I’m frustrated beyond messure at this point, only found a couple of people who have the same issue, no solution is posted anywhere I could find. Gm ticket is still waiting an answer for a very long time now.

they told me to do all those things you did, while its was clear that none of this has to do with the error.

shandris cinematic also worked for me suddenly after a mysterious download in battle.net client, but many others are not working at all.

here is a new one: go to caverns of time, there is a spot at coords - 48.66, 39.33.
click on warlords of draenor chronocrystal, then click on the second option - battle of shattrath. i get an error: “This cinematic is not available.”

I have the same Issue for quite a while as well, I think since Shandaris’ quest cinematic. I tried everything you said and nothing worked. Anyone help?

This is what I sent to the GMs, I told them it seems there’s a type of a different cinematic that won’t work, since it’s always the same ones.

I’ll give you examples from the Caverns of Time Chronocrystals.

The Warlords of Draenor Chronocrystal:

Warlords of Draenor Introduction = Works
Battle for Shattrath = The Cinematic is not available (this one doesn’t freeze the game, but instantly gives the error)
Thrall confronts Garrosh = Works
Fury of Hellfire Finale = Works

Legion Chronocrystal:
All Works

Battle for Azeroth Chronocrystal:

Jaina’s Tormnet = The Cinematic is not available (freeze then this msg)
