I love RPGs. Classical RPGs, ARPGs, JRPGs, Roguelike, MMORPGs etc. I grew up with RPG i think i learned alot from those games. If you look at World of Warcraft you see it’s gameplay changed alot over the past years.
GCD is superfast and CDs were taken off it
PVP became more of an Action fighter in Shadowlands
Looking at Evoker it’s a MOBA kit (Although it’s alot of fun)
I never saw a game change its genre. I’m not that comfortable with it, but i still enjoy this game ALOT
Yes now this game is a stuttery mess with no support no story and no content,no social side and a nice lucrative shop and expac price/premium subscription cash grab.
I miss the times where you cared about your mana, drink and eat, hunters had mana etc… Now I am just spamming spells and don’t look anything. Arcadish compared to older expansions.
I think when the light bulb went on at blizz that they realised they could earn more money from a greatly smaller player base and smaller dev team, tokens, carries and other game mechanics that generate revenue or forced regular play to keep up, then the game changed forever.
That’s why we’ve got Classic, which you’re apparently playing. I enjoyed the gameplay back in the day, but wouldn’t like it to come back to retail. The times are a-changin’.
The game changes over time.
It changes with society.
You should watch Dan Olsen from folding ideas video on the topic.
It’s very interesting.
We proccess much more information on a daily basis compared to what we did just 15 years ago, and not just because we have all gotten older. In every aspect of life, from your job to your spare time.
It’s reflected in WoW with much more complicated raids and mechanics.
I like it is a bit more spammy. Looking at 1.5 gcd back in the day made me sleep. I still actually control sources on monk quite much but pally is super fun and really plays like arcade.
I think from combat perspective the game is in a nice place. I don’t do pvp so can’t say much. But for a neurotic person like me the spammy feel of some classes calms my nerves.
“This game does not have content that I enjoy doing anymore, but since I am too invested and addicted to this game to quit I will instead just whine instead of leaving.”
Actually as a fellow hunter in retail, effective resource management is vital to effective play. But don’t let facts get in the way of a good anecdote eh?
Not too forget the players in this game are lazy and want everything for free, they actually hate the game but will always come back, DF dont have mandatory stuff to do on a weekly basis or daily, but there will be complaints wanna bet for it? Even its because its this game is rlly the community are a bunch of spoiled little brats.
The rpg has been slowly disappearing from wow for years.
Class quests disappearing, hunter quivers removed, going through your pet friend levels on hunter, some silly things like the quest scribble sound getting removed…
It did. It went from an open world MMORPG with intricate stats and a consistent world to a straight up group action game, more similar to games like Vermintide than to itself.
