Using Silver Shardhide Whistle made me realize how ground mounts could be so much more fun to use if they were just as fast.

I would even gladly accept loss of flying mounts if ground mounts became just as fast.

We need:

• Weather effects that appear random (rain, wind (-20% speed if you go east, +20% if you go west, blabla, heatwaves, high tides near coastal areas)
• NPCs actually could make this game more “alive”. More farms, more workers, NPCs fighting against a few random mobs
• Less portals, make people use public transports again more often
• fix older dungeons. Make them more challenging and not only more % life and dmg, so new players start learning from the beginning of the game til they reach max level
• Day/ Night Cycle Quests. Make more escort quests at night, because of thieves on the roads etc.

• Add more impactful Events. A dragon that turns the world into frost before it dies and escapes, Alliance invading Orgrimmar and taking over the capital for X hours while Horde has nothing or has to recap, whatever.

I hope you aren’t one of my enemies on the forum because then I would be praising my enemy, but some of these ideas aren’t half bad. Others may cater to other games with different graphics, you know those 2-4 month starter up games that seem cool, and get hype then die out due to being boring.

But blizzard have a way of always making what everyone else do ten times better, so maybe all your ideas are good. We’ll see.

I was weirdly thinking about the travel thing just now when I saw this post. I remember when I first started playing in 2008 and people were always asking mages publicly for a portal and would happily pay. Even if it was just a small 10g. It felt so immersive back then like you really meant something, now the portals are everywhere. This is obviously more convenient but it’s less fun in game. Back in those days you either had to get a mage to portal you to where you wanted to go or get a zeppelin. I loved that aspect of the game and it actually reminds me of how the mages in the TV show The Witcher are shown. I’ve not played the games of those so not sure if it’s accurate but when I watched it that instantly reminded me of old WoW.
