blizzard need to implants this already omg
As long as it’s something I can choose not to turn on (meaning I don’t need to turn it off). Then I don’t really see why it should be held from those who want it.
i dont see why not im just astounded by the voice line.
Honestly would love this. I like to read the stuff, however after some time it can get boring to me. Having it voiced would really help out, even if it is simply done by AI. Hopefully will come to Curseforge as an add-on.
would have loved if each race’s voice actor was reading those quest lines!
Yeah, that’d be the best, however… to think of how much quest text there had been over the years… it would simply be overwhelming I’m afraid. AI however… it could work with the models (like here it differentiates between male and female blood elf) and work from there on. Not something I’d like to see from official Blizzard, but could work as a nice add-on.
I would like this. I currently use an AddOn called Storyling which has larger fonts with light text on a dark background which is easier to read. The standard Quest Text window (squiggly font on yellow background) isn’t so easy to read.
Although I imagine the Voice Actors not being best-pleased with this being added. Their contracts would have to exclude cinematics or something (limiting this technology only to certain aspects, Quest Text and similar). Otherwise the Unions would cause issues. Although I’m sure this is happening in certain areas already.
i think this is what wow needs to make its content fresh
Definitely not AI though, there are plenty of struggling voice actors who could use a commission.
Not everything needs to be done with AI these days, I feel like people forgot how important human touch is with this kind of stuff.
That’s pretty cool! Is it an addon?
Is there a version of this addon where there’s simply a giant “accept quest button” showing up in the middle of the screen ?
That’s what 90% of the players do anyway.
AI TTS is starting to get into RPG’s and other games with a ton of text that couldn’t possibly be voice acted due to the sheer volume of it.
A really great recent example is Morrowind, which is getting dialogue for every NPC and every topic. Those of you who have played Morrowind know how insane that is. It’s going to be gigabytes of audio files for English alone.
But I think the truest frontier in this is moving from TTS for NPC’s over to TTS for players. In other words, if I write “Let’s capture the stables!” my character should, in her voice, yell out those words for other players to hear, the volume of it based on their distance to me. This should of course be a toggle, and addons need to be banned from using the chatbox (it’s being abused by WA’s for coordination purposes so it should be banned regardless)
And then the next frontier is live voice-changing, but that’s still a ways off. Really useful for porting WoW to console though.
yeah agree hope blizzard can do something
