This new archivest thing is

Awful. Absolutley awful.

Dontr get me wrong, not in concept. But in execution.

Its so god damn buggy. Almost every quest has some kind of bugs. This made it out of a testing branch. Somebody looked at this in pre production and thought, “yeh this is great”

How did this ship? How? Like somebody needs sacked or written up at the very least. Its embarrasing and they should feel ashame of their work.

I dont know. hopefully this was an interns project and some seniors are fixing it but even then, the whole process seems shoddy for a triple A game that charges a sub.

You know what whilst I am at it:

The whole patch is a mess. We have affixes that are busted, classes that are busted and a dragon riding outland cup that is removing previously earned transmog from some people.

DF is all about transmog, everything else like class balance, gameplay, new events are not tested and they are buggy and really bad.

This is what happens when they fire the majority of the company to please share holders and to get bobby a new boat, even though the company had huge profits.

I like the goggles, and haven’t had issues with that part of the system yet. The totem, though, isn’t much fun to me even if it didn’t bug out for me whenever there are other players who work on the same dig.

Oh yeh and if you can somehow get the quests to work and get a transmog item. its not actually part of a set in the appearance tab…even tho its a full set.

The quests were extremely frustrating. At least the ones with the totem and elemental were.

I’m not sure what to make of the event yet.

terrible system. There were just about a dozen people standing about utterly confused or not moving because they were trying to google how to do it.

I would have liked archaeology the profession itself to be, uh, dusted off for something like this.

I gave up in the end. There was a group of us standing round an ancient pile of something or other, hopefully putting out the totem and talking to our elemental and whatever was supposed to happen didn’t. At the moment I’m blocked as I can’t go on until I’ve finished it.

Says you get 5000 mysterious fragments weekly quest reward. Seems to be weekly account quest reward. I believe I only got the reward once which, I guess is understandable, but they could have just made the quest say so when you hover over the horn if so.

Theres people afking and getting the “quests” so theres times ive only gotten 2 tomes and sometimes you can get up to 5-6 when ppl are not as afk.

The event allowing ppl to be afk and still be rewarded is bad implementation though.

This actually counts as harrasement and trolling both of which i have reported you for now , you might not like the replies i give but what you are doing now is just childish and slander.

i totally agree hardly anything works , i will get the mog and thats it . Feels like we are testing in game instead of what was actually done in ptr.

I was hoping for something that could keep me entertained for a week maybe like the timerifts but these events are just horrible, messy and buggy.

I’ve read this with Walt’s voice (from Big Lebowski)

It’s even more puzzling, I’d say, when we had a burrowing and excavation system added with Embers of Neltharion and the Niffen that arguably - comparatively - was far better than this.

Why not suggest the Niffen has joined the Dragonscale Expedition as their curiosity has brought them to the surface (since we see them in Bel’ameth) and we do new digs with Myrrit but on the surface? Iteration, evolution, adaptation. How is this not the first thought or idea?

On top of this, I’d venture it would make more sense aesthetically than using fire and water to dig stuff out of the earth as well. Wouldn’t it be more practical to have an earth elemental if anything? We’re trying to balance fire and water to get rid of the dirt and mud … why, exactly?

As much as I like the idea of the Azerothian Archives, this rendition is deeply troubling.

Huh? Mentioning someone in a forum is hardly harassment lol. Feel free to report me for this comment.

Probably is the first time i never finish an event in world of warcraft. Its not fun. i loved archo back in time… but this…not

Agreed. It was a fine system. They could have tarted it up and brought it back no problem. At least they knew how to make it work…

It’s a bit of a mixed bag, i like the goggle thing, it’s what we had as Archaeology-profession, but improved, but the digging thing with the elementals… not sure what to make of that.

It seems bugged to me, and is a bit too fiddly for the major finds (Use elemental, dig a bit, use whatever ground spawns are scattered in the area, use elemental, dig a bit more…), i’m sure Blizz will tinker with it, remove some bugs, make it a bit less fiddly, but that’s stuff they should have done on PTR, it’s literally what the PTR is for.

I’d suggest that the most glaring issues with the feature isn’t the functionality of the defacto elements (pun intended) of themselves, but rather their creative and aesthetic application.

If you have four Elements, the logical thing to do - aesthetically - would be to pair those four Elements with an action. Imagine if you instead approached the available dig sites and sources in this manner:

A lava dig type | A fire elemental.
An underground dig type | An earth elemental.
A river dig type | A water elemental.
A vortex or slipstream dig type | An air elemental.

These are fundamental creative ideas that makes this feature lack any sort of in-world or narrative cohesion and I struggle to see how anybody could make this kind of oversight.

It feels disjointed, and frankly I feel as though it lacks any sort of creative touch or at least a basic understanding of association. Of connecting dots, not in the least seen to the established world that this is supposed to take place in.
