This new Sylvanas can be potentially interesting

Now, dont get me wrong, I am not a Sylvanas fan and I would like nothing more then to kill her and then kill her soul but since Blizzard is extremely committed to keeping her alive, we just have to work with what we have.

The raid cinematic makes it obvious that Jailer shoved missing parts of Sylvanas soul back into her undead body thus potentially reverting her all the way back to her Ranger persona.

We only knew her as such only for 2-3 missions in WC 3, but she seemed to be a good and honorable gal (to the point of expecting a Death Knight to give her a clean death, like wtf?). And now this nice person has to deal with:

  1. The fact that she is no longer a High Elf but an Undead.

  2. All the horrible things she done

  3. That everyone hates and distrusts her

  4. The incoming end of reality and the fact that she helped make that happen.

To see how the new Sylvanas gonna work through all that can be rather interesting, I think. Of course we gonna need some very good writing for that. And she’s gonna need new… everything: new outfit, new voice lines, new attitude, because writers would need to do everything they can to distance the new Sylvanas from the old one.

If done right, this can be interesting. Then again, I fully expect the only new thing added gonna be some line like “We don’t have time to talk, hero, we need to stop Jailer”

How, though? So you have a Sylvanas that is disgusted with her actions, just like everyone else is. What interesting thing is supposed to happen with that? Years of psycho-therapy? I don’t think so.

Nothing really changed here. The most probable outcomes are still either Sylvanas’ self-sacrifice, or her ascension to some higher being, who doesn’t have to bother with therapy. I don’t see what interesting stuff could be won by keeping her around.

Problem is the character arch. Ever since Legion she has been portrayed as a single minded individual that puts her own before everyone else (which is in stark contrast from her WC3 character). She has committed atrocities aplenty and done a lot of bad things.

I think they’ve completely destroyed Sylvanas from a characterisation perspective. She’s been all over the place since Legion, so if they now suddenly twist it around that “I only did it because insert lame reason here” it will be even worse.

With the actions they have made her do and the arch she has had since Legion, anything but death is terrible. In fact they should have killed her off at the end of the raid, and revealed right before her death that even she was a pawn in the Jailor’s “master plan”, then perhaps it would be passable. As it stands now, it’s just one terrible story arch after the other in SL.

I like sylvanas and yes im interested in what will become of her. But to be honest i can’t see that she will fit in anywhere in the horde or alliance.
After what she has done it would be too wierd to have her as an ally and she is too important character wise to have her locked away or do an illidan and leave.

Personally i’d still like to see her start her own faction and have all the races as forsaken.
Wether it’d be a third faction or if horde and alliance merge together and we basicly go into WoW 2.

There is so many ideas about what can be done.
Maybe even elune has something planned for her since she prevented tyrande from ending her.
I can only hope they really think things through when moving forward with sylvanas.

I’ve been arguing this for quite some time: Having a shattered soul does NOT necessarily mean we had a “good” and a “bad” half going around.

That was just a fan theory that players had.

And I was right:

As shown in the explanation Uther gives in the new campaign bit.

So, having both sides fussed once more, does NOT mean the character will change.

Well, I for one think that writting in World of WarCraft is great because I have seen people making ridiculous post based on their superficial knowledge of the lore/story.

As for WC3 part, no, we don’t know Sylvannas only for 2-3 mission when she was honorable girl. There is also part when she was undead in WarCraft 3 and boy, the consistency of the character is still strong and this 9.1 cinematic just shows that.

Sylvannas, ever since she was free from Lich Kings grasp, did whatever she wanted to do that goes along her interest. She obviously saw that Jailer is not listening and he’s ego is “eating him up alive” and I am quite sure she don’t want her plans to be ruined by idiot and I am so pleased that she will go against Jailer “just like that” because of that Sylvannas attitude - I am not your minion, hence “I WILL NEVER SERVE”.

I am truly interested what happens with her and behind “blue eyes”.

I agree, I just wouldn’t want “forsaken only” thing.

Yeah, maybe not only forsaken. Any race for that matter so loyalist to sylvanas actually means something since the choice was given.

I do hope and pray that Blizzard finds a way to redeem Sylvanas, because I am going to god damn puke if every real of existence spends one more minute heroically saving YET ANOTHER alliance demi god.

I cannot stand how absurdly invincible the entire alliance cast is while they keep killing off the horde cast one after another.
