This Phase killed it for me

This phase has been a massive failure and it’s not even close.

Incursions are a flop, completely overpowered and boring made the phase age 3 weeks worth of leveling for the whole community in a single day if we’re including casual dads who get tops 3 hours of game time.
Raid sucks, I know they were trying to make the least popular dungeons into raids but ST is imo the WORST dungeon in the game and it’s not even close. Way too much trash, boring and awful mechanics that aren’t fun, terrible aesthetic, terrible loot table and in general I won’t be missing this steaming pile. Gnomer was infinitely better in every aspect.
The switch to 20 men raids ruined a VERY good portion of 10 men guilds and made pugging a class stacking fiesta again.
PvP sucks, same STV event with slightly buffed up rewards literally nothing new.
Wild Offering grind is a mind numbing experience only second to incursions.
Runes for all specs are mediocre and uninspired.

Pretty much everything added in this phase has been bad, there’s not a single exception. It’s all low effort trash.

This phase is dead - 100% agree with the levelling side of things. Classic is about leveling and its taking time or at least being part of the content. Incursions made all other content irrelevant, with the exception of wild offerings farm. Which most completed inside the first week or 2.

  • Dungeons are irrelevant
  • PVP is dead
  • Raid was maybe slightly overtuned but now its just a loot pinata once per week
  • Harder content is gate kept, so you can’t even try to do harder content for jokes - eg full BRD, would be REALLY challenging and you can’t use the gear yet - but would be at least fun to let us try
  • Economy is going to be over inflated insanely for next phase, which will put of new/returning players.

Zero content…and weeks away from next phase

Well, they did block off every “Wrong path” so the main annoyance went away for me.

Yeah, Who thought a troll with a knockback and dragon’s with knockbacks… meaning less time to dmg the boss would be “Fun”

i agree with incursions being terribad, but don’t throw shade at wild offerings. that’s a great addition to the game, they should have just made a mob at every boss instead of the last bosses only, and increased the amount of WO’s needed per item to compensate.

this would incentivize doing the whole actual dungeon (which is their purpose to begin with) instead of skipping to princess to cheese the farm to make it faster (and boring).

the sole reason WO’s exist is to get people who otherwise wouldn’t do dungeon content (because they already got the items they need from them) to go back and do that content so that people can more easily find party members.

20 man raids were bound to happen, blizzard even ran back their initial statement that at lvl 60 we would have only 40 man raids, as a result of the complaints.

the 10 man guilds that died as a result of 20 man raid sizes will find new homes in the guilds who are willing to expand their rosters instead of giving up and disbanding.

10 man raid size was a mistake from the beginning, and i warned that this would happen.
the growing pains we are seeing now is a direct result of having 2 straight phases where people got to congregate in their segregated little 10 man “communities” and are unwilling to give up their authority as gms/officers in order to expand/merge with other 10 man cliques.

my guild had growing pains too, we still do, but that’s mostly because the phase overall is complete garbage that incentivizes NOT playing the game for more than 40 mintues per week, and this will change when we get to 60 and there’s actual content to do - assuming blizzard doesn’t add more genius treadmills a la incursions that cause people to ragequit.

true, this is about as bad as fun policing gets… i hate when blizzard adds a level restriction and then go out of their way to say “this far an no further” like they did with the righteous orbs.

bro, if you want to level restrict us, but you suspect some of us will be good enough to overcome the challenge that i.e a full BRD run represents (and you don’t want us to clear it) then don’t level restrict us in the first place.
whats the point?

at least phase 2 had no incursions, and bloodmoon was decent when it worked.
the economy also wasn’t as big of an utter joke as it is right now.

phase 1 was the best.
phase 2 was bad.
phase 3 killed the game.
phase 4 ???

This phase has become absolutely atrocious with the amount of bots everywhere. Impossible to farm things - anywhere you go, there are already dozens of bots. Dozens. Also stupid layering issues when ores/herbs disappear in front of you.

Leveled my preist to 50 then i quit the game . Incursions killed the game for me don’t want to level my other characters like back in phase 2. The raid sucks No point on doing dungeons since pvp gear is better and the pvp sucks. Don’t think i’m coming back for next phase, to bad sod looked so good at the beginnig

Dev team is forced to waste time on cata.

Incursions made The Maw seem quite inviting.

If these fools had the genius of Bobby they could have put a level boost into the game shop and make millions from that.

Instead they brought incursions, which both annoys everyone and makes no money for a new yacht. Double L situation.

They force people to leave SoD (because leveling is very fast and nothing to do) for cata where blizz have shop boost.

Spot on. We saw similar things happening in TBC when everybody and their brother thought 25-man guilds were easy to run based off Karazhan and Gruul/Mag PUGs.
In Phase 2 all of them stood their ground and “guilds” were 10-15 man squads filling with randoms from chat, a compromise that satisfied nobody… then came the “nerf everything please” outcries.

I don’t think it is about people not wanting to give up their “authority”, I think it’s just about friend groups wanting to stay as friend groups and feeling a personal connection to the guild they’ve been a part of for months. They allowed guilds to form as closer knit friend groups and then they told them “uh, actually, expand beyond that” and those groups don’t know what to do and are unwilling to break that group formation because that’s not why they joined a guild to begin with.

I don’t think it has anything to do about “authority” for most players.

If your focus as a Dev Team is Cataclysm, you don’t want the little annoying brother to be too successful.

I mean, imagine you are a dev who was working on the three greatest WoW Versions of all time. Vanilla, BC and WOTLK. Now you need to move on and need to release Cataclysm, the beginning of the end of old WoW until Legion … where it got better again. Probably 90% of the Devs don’t like to move on either.

Cataclysm would never have a chance if SoD would be like Vanilla with some Plus. I haven’t heared anything from the DeV team in the last 4-6 weeks? This is not normal but just shows that they don’t care about SoD (in Phase 3.)

I dont think they care about much more than keeping their jobs and paychecks coming, through peoples subcriptions. Since it’s all under the same one, they couldnt care less what version of WoW you play as long as you play. The fanboism is best left for the community while cash is being counted.

Or it shows that a major release is coming up and Blizzard as whole is shifting their focus on the Cataclysm release. Do you think there’s acually a “SoD-only team” that rolls their thumbs between SoD phases while the “Cata”-team puts in the work and other way around? In todays money efficient day and age in general but at Blizzard specifically?

If you think class stacking is bad now, wait until P4 and there is nothing but warriors.

No, we all know that the SoD team is working on Cata. It was never a secret.

Tinfoil Hat on!
It was all a plan to “kill” SoD at the exact time Cata pre-patch would launch so that they can funnel players into Cata. Later on they will release the “instant Raid Finder” in Cata just when the new expansion on retail will release to funnel players from Cata towards retail.
