Just as everyone tried to encourage more ppl to heal, come back to game, post to blizzard to help out with lack of hearts in every endgame content - in m+ we’re getting hit with one more tyrannical, afflicted week which means - even less healers as this affix is terrible in pug groups. Tried to do some keys today but I think it’s just easier to stop playing instead of waiting 20 mins for a healer to have group split up at any sign or anything going bad.
Help with affixes - make them positive for a change so that people actually have more fun playing the game than less fun for a change.
I am for sure not going to heal this week outside of my premade
I’m yet to understand how Blizz is responsible for players’ behaviour.
Key owners make groups with enough dispels, everyone in the group use them. Problem solved.
What if they refuse to use them or don’t have the talent?
That’s a player behaviour issue and not something Blizz can control.
It is obviously player behavior and not on blizz side. But in randoms with 4 players who can dispell, they still expect me as healer to do it, even during pulls like the ones in vortex with soldiers. It is stupid, but in the end i had my fair share of crap and am not putting me out there as healer anymore during these weeks.
Don’t, then.
My reply was to the OP’s demand that Blizz redesign the game to accommodate bad players. If it isn’t these affixes, it will be something else. The only way to remove the impact of players who don’t pull their weight would be to dumb down the entire game to ‘press this one button and do mega damage and stand in whatever you like and don’t die’, and I’m pretty sure none of us wants that.
Meh. Not like pugging is the only lifeline that exists out there to do m+.
I just did a 21 and an aug and a dps were amazing with the affix. I can normally do both as a holy priest and they were all over it.
Bad groups are going to be bad and whiners will whine, doesn’t matter what the affix is. It’s a pretty damn straightforward one if I’m honest.
Blizzard could easily fix the affix but well…
- afflicted and incorporeal should be able to be cleansed by every single class respective to their cd
- these affixes should spawn only for 2 players at a time and if they miss to cleanse it they are the only ones who are affected by the debuff
If a class has only a 2min cd to deal with it for whatever reason, the affix for that class is only allowed to spawn every 2:30min at most
In this way everyone has to take their own responsibility to deal with the affix and it doesn’t affect the group that heavily if they fail.
It generally is a well-covered affix, at least nowadays. No denying it was a bit of a hell on earth when it was new and players were still getting familiar with it.
I don’t believe i’ve had any bitter or sorry experiences concerning Afflicted nowadays. The only time there were struggles was when I was healing during particularly spicy moments and them spawning, however the other DPS/Tank handles them for me.
Probably because they understood those moments are particularly unfun for the healer.
I can think of so many instances where Afflicted will ruin an entire boss fight, especially during a Tyrannical week.
Afflicted that spawn during the first boss fight in Brackenhide while the healer is hexed. The healer will have to use his dispel on the tank, and then heal one Afflicted using 3 gcds he or she probably doesn’t have because right after the hex comes the freaking frenzy that if not taken care of will lead to a wipe.
A missed Afflicted during the third boss fight in Uldaman is a safe wipe and therefore the end of that run.
A missed afflicted during the third boss in HoI is an absolute disaster.
Almost anytime it goes off during a major healing check, it’s over.
How many times do people miss them because there’s already too much going on?
This week, they can spawn in the middle of a group of enraged mobs and you can’t target it at all.
It’s the worst affix design in the game right now. Incorporeals are at least easily detected and easily targeted.
I ran dungeons with monks, druids, priests, paladins specced for dispel but they just don’t help. Only in my only finished run so far, they helped!
VP dragon boss is on the top of the list, HoI 3rd boss also,
Yes, and I sympathise. It does suck when these things happen and the Healer has to cover them. But that is why it’s best to run with groups you know more than the score they have and start basing expectations.
Someone has to speak up. And if they’re quiet and aren’t receptive to your requests for help, then you have all rights to leave that group behind and find/create another. Is it toxic to do so? No, because your mental health actually matters.
The same goes to choosing to create groups. Make groups that are aware of these requirements and build accordingly. They don’t have to be the Exodia comp either, far from it.
Lack of communication, especially in this case is deadly. Lack of acknowledgement and irresponsibility on top of that? well… I won’t go into how much of a headache that is.
All of what you said is true, but that doesn’t change the fact that
- they can’t always be targeted because they spawn in groups of bigger mobs
- their visibility can be extremely bad (think of second boss in vortex pinnacle)
- the punishment for slipping up is way too high
This is a design issue, not just a player issue.
And I am not going to push keys during a week like this. No, for me it’s just eight dungeons between +17 and +20 this week when I should be running +25s because I don’t want to ruin anybody’s key by missing one god forsaken afflicted.
I don’t have a problem with the affix. I just spec into Poison Cleanse totem, which grabs every other spawn. I also make a point of clarifying that when I join the group, just to take some stress off of the healer. I can’t remember the last time we had any serious trouble because of this particular affix.
Funnily enough, I once got yelled at at the end of a dungeon for ‘only’ doing four dispels - whatever addon they were using to track them tracked each of my totems as an individual entity, hence the confusion.
most shamans doesn’t even know that this exists and even further most people in the game never adjust their specs to even bother covering affixes. Which includes decurse, hex and pct.
Never had I even once a shaman in my group that skilled pct for NL.
