Illegal gold was not generated out of thin air (in theory at least, although I wouldn’t be surprised if Blizzard was selling gold to gold sellers), but farmed by bots. Bots are against ToS and in theory a situation we had could still be fixed by banning them. Now there are no actions taken in the world to generate gold, it is only generated based on how much money Blizzard gets, which in turn means that inflation will now rise even faster, making people who don’t buy gold all the poorer.
I also foresee a chance for GDKPs to fall apart in ICC once item prices exceed 50x gold cap. Unless Blizzard increases the gold cap early, that is.
