Is there a way to turn off the noises? Its doing my head in, and since mechanobuckets are the only mounts available to me, I sometimes rather walk than listen to that cursed rattling.

I do not think you can fix it without disabling SFX. Consider buying one of the Bloodmoon mounts, they can be ridden by any race.

You´re a gnome… the entire reason you exist is to create mechanical contraptions that annoy TF out of anything with ears, including yourself.
Embrace it!!! Or, as mentioned, disable SFX ingame.
Alternatively, there might be /probably is a weakaura that automatically sets them to zero when you mount up, just like there´s an addon “I hate trains” that immediately sets yourr dialogue volume to zero when someone decided to set one of those annoying toys up.
But be warned, you also won´t be able to hear any of the other audio cues that can sometimes save your life, like the “whouuuuuw” sound when you detect something stealthed in your vicinity. Or the firing of the cannonball that’s about to clock you upside the head and remove the mount sound that way until you resurrect

Yes! This saved my life.
There is also an addon called leatrix sounds, where you can find the sound ID of any sound in the game. I can think of a few other things I’ll be muting.
