Thought harvester?

When it procs are you supposed to use mind sear on single target even? It seems it does more damage than mind flay even on single target if it is thought harvest empowered?

When the trait was originally created, it increased the power of mind sear by 300%, and at that time you very much did use it on single target, and it was a fair single target damage boost over a raid fight.

However, because of the absurd scaling with Searing Dialogue, and its potential to be beyond overpowered in cleave / M+, the trait was nerfed to 150%.

At 150%, it is a DPS increase to mind sear over mind flay with the proc up, but it is not worth the drop in insanity generation, unless at that current moment you don’t need insanity generation because your voidform stacks are low.

tl:dr. Does more damage but doesn’t generate enough insanity to justify in most situations. Ideally get rid of the trait for single target / most raid encounters.

Not even if you have 2 traits to increase mind sear damage to targets with shadow word pain?

Ok so. SD and TH interact really weirdly. 1x SD is enough to make TH Sears castable single target, and stacking SD with 1TH makes the sear hit really really hard, but it’s a lot to lose from other traits.

If that’s what you have, and the best you have, then use it, or if you just wanna try and get fat sear procs for M+ (Also not advised but relatively untested, so knock yourself out) then yes you’d use sear on ST with that.

Fun fact. With 2x SD traits. You’d use sear over MF on single target even without the proc, as long as you didn’t need the insanity flay would generate.

Now im very confused what traits to run in m+. Chorus doesnt seems to sim thatbhigh anymore, i dont have a single item ( even though i have 3 bags full of 370+ azerite) with champion of azeroth. Harvester doesnt proc that often to run whole gear around it. Idk.

For pvp double dialogue with harvester is kinda cool for setups, because we finaly generate some pressure.

Any1 who tested m+ in 8.1 can share observations aboit traits that seems to be the best? Advice would be very apritiated.

Champions of azeroth basically doesn’t exist. It’s on the rep helm from Champions of Azeroth, we just sim it for completion’s sake.

DTs and SAs are your best pick for M+ atm, with 1 SD on fortified weeks.

When we get 6 traits, you’ll be much more free to try TH + SDs for the cleave on aoe, and then have some SA’s and DT’s still, but right now you just don’t have the trait real estate.

For raiding. Chorus is still strong, and given the only other two good raid traits (SA and Whispers) both scale off crit, having a good base of triple chorus for next tier will be good.

Most people are looking at either COI COI COI SA SA SA, or COI COI COI SA SA Whispers for raiding next tier.

M+ next tier. DT SA TH SD, then whatever else for the other 2.

Also traits are generally much closer together now in 8.1, so ilvl does have a say in what you end up taking. As far as item availability, shadow has its 3 BiS azerite pieces for raiding from the first 4 bosses, and an alternative BiS piece from Jaina.

Thank you, ill test that.:+1:

#edit 1 : does sa stack wit auspicious spirits? If sa is that strong then it seems like this talent row is from now on a bit dead.

It’s not as strong of a stack up as it initially appears because of some hidden DRing. But yes, playing SA does tend to force AS > SC.
