Thoughts on DF story so far?

^^
One of the main reasons I simply refuse to follow up with the story.

Where the Fel this nonsense came is a mysterty to me!
Kalec, my boy, you are a damn Blue Dragon!
Maygos was empowered and tasked to be the guardian of arcane magic and hidden arcanum! The Titan Norgannon blessed Malygos and his flight with power over the arcane and the duty of ensuring it would never be abused!
Yes Kalec, your flight is only about Magic, Arcane, Ley-lines and artefacts and knowledge… not about Family and friends!

In the hands of good writers it could have been interesting, but these writers have no “edge” to make the story fun or captivating. Yeah, the story in df is supposed to be a slowburn, but even mop was like this and still it was miles more interesting than anything seen in df so far. Must be fault of the playdough artstyle of the new characters or the millennial twitter-like style of writing.

It’s what I used for describing Star Trek: Discovery. I enjoy most of the show but sometimes it’s just too touchy-feely-happy and it makes me uncomfortable lol.

Couldnt give any less fs about the story.
Havent cared about the dragons since cataclysm, dont give a toss about the dracthyr and most of all, despite the story telling having improved in df, its still bad. It manages to keep my attention for about 2 seconds, before i get bored turn my attention elsewhere

Deep Space 9 it is not, thats for sure

Personally it’s depressing compared to shadowlands. I’ve bearly made 20M since the patch went live

DS9 was best :ok_hand: then TNG with the Borg.

Honestly, I have no idea what it is about, I know that it has something to do with dragons, but that’s about it.

The medium needs to be consistent, the game is in video format and so should the telling of the story, I shouldn’t have to read anything or be distracted when the story is being told.

Everything related to the story should be a cutscene, if an NPC starts yapping after he gives me a quest, I’m not going to stand there and wait for him to finish talking, I’m just going to go and do the quest.

It’s not like I went out of my way not to follow the story, take a game like Final Fantasy, the cutscene feels like a reward, you want to play to get to the next cutscene to see the story progress, never got that feeling when playing World of Warcraft.

I must admit it didn’t really start to catch on for me until this latest patch and the new bad guys arrived. Razageth seemed like your typical covid voice bad wow villain with little more character than just being that.

The new dracthyr stuff and cutscenes and the new bad guys I really liked. Hope stuff picks even more up and we get some drama soon.

Even with the dialogue that has no voice over, I still read. Because it’s small bites, and generally well written.

WoW just gives you a giant wall of text on a small window. Even with an addon, to mimic FFXIV formula, it’s meh.

Should have fixed the writing team with Shadowlands imo, but the heads are still there. So no hope for the story or sidequests.

Uninteresting so far. I will get some fire from it but SL at start was much better imo. Cliché indeed but the stakes were much higher. A big bad, badass cinematics etc. Can’t seem to care about the dragon islands for now. I feel like we are just chaining mid-bosses and can’t really feel how bad it is for Azeroth.

After the Legion, N’zoth and cosmic stuff i hope DF will gain a bit in intensity later on to at least match that and not just chain random proto drakes.
