Thoughts on Dragonflight

So I came back to WoW after joining in mid BfA (removed by moderation*) and leaving in early-mid Shadowlands.
I think this expansion allowed WoW to regain some fame and popularity, overall it’s a very engaging expansion with tons of content and things to do; it feels like WoW turned up to eleven, and im very glad to see that.
It was easy to conquer people’s approval with the fact that it brings back old lore and revamps it, and seals the explanation of Neltharion’s turning, and actually makes it SOMEWHAT acceptable, which is a sign of good writting, because there’s no one sided power hungry villainy here, atleast not in this case.
The Isles were carefully crafted, everything has detail and the landscapes are quite unique, I am currently lvl 67, and im on the Azure Span now, which reminds me a LOT of Northrend, and they even brought a faction people loved, the Tuskarr. (If only we could have Taunka…)
Albeit leveling with a tank is rather tedious (BDK), the quests have sometimes just text and other activities, which is a breath of fresh air, and a treat to those who like story and roleplay (like me).
There are motives, and cool, well-thought interactions, between NPC’s and the map itself; the game feels ALIVE, the music is fascinating too!
I also found the first gay couple I had come across, which happened again twice in the centaurs, lesbian AND gay couples, I guess it is acceptable that in landscape, city, civilization w/e, there would be more of this sexuality, but now im confused if they’re ALL homossexual or not. Moving on…
Dragonriding makes things exciting, although at times it can be a pain to use, but I do like how engaging it is, I’ve gotten gold in all of the “tracks”.
The professions have an added layer of difficulty, and although id love to indulge myself in completing all of this, I am still playing another game that I love despite having a battlepass, and we all know how FOMO acts; this, added with the fact im currently studying, will prove hard to make everything work.

TL;DR - Dragonflight is a promising expansion, which has a lot of positive aspects.
I made a rogue and I was lvling in WoD content (I have to say that in terms of maps and quests, WoD is decent/good.)
That’s all.

It’s the " best expansion " by the community that nobody really plays.

I think the seasonality of the expansions needs to go. I mean someone is going to reply to my comment saying Season 2 everyone got their KSM/Curve already. I think there lies a problem.

Nobody really plays? Due to the choice people have in not having to grind? I heard so, idk what they meant.
Elaborate, if you can.
What do you think of it?

It’s looking at the amount of people completing raids in each difficulty. The amount of keys being done and their gradients. Same with arena participation. All of them lower than season 1 of Shadowlands.

What that shows , is Shadowlands damaged WoW in a big way. Regardless of those who played and enjoyed it , that majority left WoW.

Blizz has done so many incredible positive things in DF , but it’s not bringing back the players. I think partially the theme and the intro cinematic not being that exciting. I mean look at WoD cinematic , it got 6 million people to resub from Pandaria’s numbers.

Just came back to DF, its pretty fun really, m+ is fun (aside from vortex pinnacle, that dungeon can rot), the raid is fun as well in nm/hc, my guild is booming with players so I am very satisfied

No issues finding groups for either M+ or raiding too which is a big bonus, lots of improvements from SL really, very much so on the right track, also lots of players which is a nice sight to see.

I dont care for the dragons and what not. I just like killing people.

DF feels really happy clappy. I would be more engaged if it was more dark and violent.

Not the worst expansion, certainly not the best as some people are stating.

shadowlands and bfa did amazing job in reducing playerbase, There was nothing to do after max 30 days of seasons which lasted WAAY too long, so no wonder

The fact 90% of my friendslist and guild is just raidlogging speaks volumes.

In my eyes, this xpac is on par with WoD and that’s really not a good thing (arguably worse).

If people don’t play the game it’s bad.

True, and that’s a good thing.

Although WoD did have better class design.

Mythic+ is alright, as always. Same with the raids. The world content is in a dire state. Sooo boring and unrewarding, they can and should do better!

Overall 5/10 expansion so far. Needs improving!

I can agree with that tbh, raid and m+ are both good, but world content is just dead, it’s basically impossible to do most events because they are deserted

I wish they heavily nerfed the HP of the zaralek caverns rares , so collectors can go in and do their thing. Make the place more lively. All I see is mining and herb bots.

Really, there’s a lot of underlying issues in DF. Rampant botting and gold selling, years old bugs that are simply left as they are, far too much removed content, FOMO content, content that becomes abandoned or irrelevant too quickly, old content being very messy, the in-game story being all over the place, crazy imbalances below 60 and so on, there’s a good list.

Most players just brush this off with “it’s always been this way”, “it was worse before”, “WoW isn’t really about that”, “there’s no point fixing that, it’d cost resources”, “it’s an old game”, and so on, but the game is a fairly miserable new player experience and gives a bad impression.

WoW’s a convoluted, buggy, imbalanced mess riddled with bots, outside of basically M+, current raids, PvP and 60-70 questing and we’re just conditioned to accept it. But it’s not a good game. Imo it’s a very subpar game with some fun features at endgame.

I haven’t, and have no intention in doing so either

Honestly ksm is the easiest it’s ever been to obtain I got 2nd week on a fresh 70

I dont doubt that- its just that im not 'enamoured ’ by the dungeons this season. I dare say my guild would carry me to it if j asked, but id rather do it on my own merit

Logged into refail DF today to get some free crap from Blizzard and it was dead. After that I logged straight back out knowing I made the right choice not to purchase this clown of an expansion. The copium dealers are making a fortune this expansion though, good for them!

The measure of any expansion is how I feel when I have levelled a character to the point of being able to start again the new expansion. Of all the expansions this has to be the worst. Try as I might I just can’t bring myself to levelling through it again.

I dinged 61 this week and have sat a few nights pondering whether to jump in. Last night I got back on the ‘empty’ flying thing and landed to the welcome and anticipation of the Dragon Isles. I did a bit of fishing to get my head straight and already I was bored out my brains. I just keep saying come on you can do this. Sadly the thought of Disney talking dragons just isn’t enjoyable for me.

So to the first area and killing stuff… just the usual killing stuff and the rescue of three lost souls, two floating. But its dark so dark, the game is always dark.

I made it to the first area and resisted talking to the dragon to take the first quest. Instead I simply logged out at the inn and reflected… ‘No sorry can’t do that again’.

I did have this baby flying dragon with me which was fun until I accepted the quest and it flew away.

All I think about is dreary quests. Dreary races. Dull boring same old same old landscapes. Dreadful story and childish gameplay. If I have to walk with those centaur one more time listening to how they like killing stuff. And what to look forward to even more boring tusked creatures and a tedious annoying blue dragon guy that really needs to cheer up.

I just dunno where the fun is in Dragonflight. I have sat here tonight thinking should I log in or not. And then I reflected that if I do I’m gonna start another character. At least I can play in Ghostland again. Most fun is thinking up a new name. I enjoy getting to 35 and 45 and solo dungeon and raid stuff. I like levelling and gearing to 61 but then its back to that place and sorry, for me its no fun. And like I say this is the worst its ever been and I thought nothing would beat BfA.

And I simply hate dragons. I love my regular mount and dunno what folk see in dragons. They make me cringe every time I launch one and have to try to get it to hover or stay still. That is the problem for me. I just want to bounce into the air and hold it there whilst I reflect on what I want to do and then ‘very gently’ just fly somewhere. Not dash off like a rocket, smash into a wall, over shoot my target and run out of juice before I climbed the cliff. Sorry I just don’t enjoy them. I don’t see the point when we have perfectly good mounts that we enjoy flying.

I have a lot more thoughts on Dragonflight but sadly none of them good. I just hope the next is better and they don’t persist with these dreadful dragons.

This was a massive turn off for me when they where selling the expansion to us. I thought “You’re selling us a gimmick? A spiro the dragon falling with style gimmick?”

Apparently people loved that crap, but for me all it ever was was a gimmick that will provide you with minutes of fun…before it gets old fast.

And the whole expansion itself was written by 4 years olds with crayons. It’s dreadful, I made the right choice not to purchase it personally. Sorry you have been let down again by Blizzard, they have a habit of that lately.

“it was dead” lmao

Ever tried to go on an actually populated server instead of your dead server ?

DF is as far as it is from dead right now, at least on Draenor its pretty packed with people, you being on a terrible server is your own problem
