Started my first alt through Shadowlands and I’m now faced with Threads of Fate vs Replay Story. Before I started the alt I thought I’d obviously skip the story to check out another covenant, but now that I actually have to pick I started doubting it… Do I want to start the level 60 grinds at level 50? Do I want to login to an alt just to do the same things I do on my main after less than a week of the expansion being out? Do I want to take the risk of not enjoying Threads of Fate and not being able to reverse that choice?
Which one did you enjoy more? Did any of you regret choosing Threads of Fate?

Tof with rested exp is the best for me .
Campaign is fun 1 time .

ToF and then try to avoid Maldraxxus

Tried ToF and… don’t get the praise. Side quests takes forever, the “Do random things” quest takes forever, world quests are spread so far out.
Feels notably slower than just doing the main story.
Would probably have been better to just be given the main story of your chosen covenant with buffed exp.

i just did both
leveled this rogue trough normal means and pala trough ToF: mostly dungeons plus helped Revs and Ardens
my honest opinion is that 1st normal route is much better, cause i was sick of leveling dungeons as a pala tank by lvl 55 and had no real desire to follow side quests…

Had long thought and right now. I am leveling this rogue via normal way but taking every side quest in comparision with mage which I focused solely on campaign(only doing sidequests if my mage hit a need lvl x to continue wall).
My only suggestion for people who want to do my way. Take the threads of fate when you reach lvl 59.5 or something. I will be probably only halfway through the campaign when I max level out. And the option for ToF exists from lvl 50 to 59
At lvl 60 you will be forced to finish the campaign to get to choose the covenant and etc.

These aid the x quests are a noisance at best. Takes quite a bite of time to get one area done
Especially if you’re a squishy class you should consider doiing story. You will get more out of it imho.

You need to be more informed on how it works to give suggestions tbh…
ToF yes no choice happens right after the maw… and cant be changed after.
Yes. But you can take tof at lvl 57 if you want to. The tof choice is permanent but the choice to play normal way isnt.
My idea for the rogue is to level the NORMAL way . Doing every side activity for xp and slowly progressing in the campaign. Then activate the tof at lvl 59 to have it finish the campaign for me.
Edit TL:DR: when you say “no” to the ToF you can still change your mind later and return to the farscribe npc to activate ToF.

I have three alts on the go all on Threads of Fate, I am not ready to do that whole storyline again.
ToF is only viable if you do it in a group and spam dungeons. I mostly play solo, so I regret the choice for my alt, it is a lot slower than just doing the campaign. I really think they should double the XP from all the random ToF quests and/or massively boost the XP you get for completing the bar per zone (like 1 level for that or something stupid). I thought it was supposed to be a fun way to level alts fast outside of doing the campaign again, it isn’t at present…

Seems like ToF is offering 2 ways.So for solo players its better to avoid those bonus objectives because they take too long and as solo player lvling just do side quests, do couple of world quests and if you feel you need XP there are always dungeons
Those bonus objectives are better to do in group and I did try to form a group for them but I was not successful so just gave up
Im using ToF on this character now,so I got achivs on my main for story campaign ofc and on this one I plan to get achiv for side quests, with WM ON there is enough side quests and couple of WQ
Yes you can.
You can select ToF anytime during the regular levelling.

Despite the story line being faster, I don’t feel like playing through it again.

ToF is much more clunky. The Bonus Objectives are horrendous, World Quests I never liked and the dungeons on normal are quite dull as well (fun to explore once tho).
I chose ToF on my first alt. But any other char will go the regular way and will swap to ToF around 59 - I think
ToF and spamming dungeons and bg to get the gear ready and the knowledge for dungeons. But my alts are not really alts, one is tank, the other one is healer so is with a bonus loot for every dungeon I do.
Nice to see so many different approaches to this choice.
I started with story, but soon run out of main quests and was told I needed to level up to continue… and I have just finished the Sojourner achis on my main so I switched to Threads of Fate. I think I’ll need several massive cups of hot chocolate and Netflix binge while playing tomorrow to make it through.
Not having a set path to follow is quite nice, but it also feels very tedious without flying. And it is weird because I don’t mind not being able to fly when playing on my main, I’m actually enjoying being grounded… but as soon as I’m on my alt I get annoyed with having to run across the map to reach bonus objectives and WQs.

I tried to do the campaign again while lvling my rogue. When I got to maldraxxus I just switched to threads of fate. Maldraxxus sucks.
