What do you think about this?
I am gearing up some alts now and man is such a pain.
We should be able to do the covenant story from 50 to 60 and when we are 60 to have at least renown 22 lets say.
I think it will be a step forward for SL to be more alt-friendly .
Good alternative to the campaign. Since it has to be done anyway why not.
Yes, would love for more options for levelling. I’ve done story campaign levelling, dungeon levelling, WQ and bonus objective levelling, side quests only levelling… Would be nice to have the option to do covenant campaigns and/or Torghast for levelling too. More variety would be great.
Being able to do the covenant story during leveling would be awesome, indeed.
It’s not an alternative, though. It’s the objectively best choice - why play the questing campaign, when you can save yourself hours by leveling up through the covenant campaign, which you will have to do later anyway?
An alternative means both choices are viable, and when you have 2 choices, one of which is “play 1 and 2” and the other is “play just 2” both yielding the same result, well… that’s not what an alternative is.
Threads of fate is pretty boring. Which is sad. It serves to expose WoW’s boring world structure.
It’s not just best but also the right choice, makes no sense that you have to do long questline when you are already at max lvl
Reasonable i like it
Yeah, this is a great idea.
I know Threads has some fans but I think it’s lazy. Your only levelling choices are repeat the exact same railroaded questing or start WQs and the bar-fillers earlier.
Yeah pls pls pls im always excited when dinged only to be dissapointed again because i have to do questing for hours again and again.
Will be awesome change
The Ammount of renown you have at the end, eh Meh, Renown comes so quickly even with the current system, within 2 weeks, you are cought up if you do some actual content with your alt.
That being said…
I TOUGHT THAT WAS THREADS OF FATES!
i Tought that WAS it!
i was so dissapointed when it wasnt, when i could play my covenant campain with my alt.
The issue is, that doing the covenant campain, when you finish it, your alt has 190 items and blizzard needs to make those capped to level in some way
Yes please, having to “catch up” the cov campaign to unlock a huge chunk of renown plus starter gear plus followers once you hit 60, in addition to starting out torg etc is just a few days you completely lose being thrown into questing which could easily be made part of the ToF experience.
I think the renown cap is high enough now that blizzard could just make it that the campaign is no longer gated behind renown, still awards it mind, and let you loose on it during ToF. It certainly makes more sense than the current “select a covenant to join, but you don’t actually join until you’re 60 lololol” that is going on right now. Regarding where the campaign awards gear, it’s NP, scale down the rewards to ur ilevel a la the ToF bar fill rewards as you can buy the max-level ones off the vendor anyway for anima. Just throw in some anima rewards for the campaign along the way (maybe 100-250 per chapter compelted) and boom. sorted.
That would be great if they did it. I’m levelling up a pally I’d not played in ages and that’s via threads of fate and bgs. I took a rogue that route too but with herbalism which did make it a lot quicker.
Covenant Campaign is dependent on you getting random Renown from other sources before you can continue to the next chapter. I really don’t think Normal and Heroic Dungeons give Renown, though the four “fill the bar” Covenant Aid quests do (I think? I only ever saw a Weapon in the rewards for those).
If you finish those quests and get Renown to catch up to one chapter, what next? For this to be feasible, either the Renown barrier on chapters needs to go, or leveling content should give Renown. Perhaps Renown from completing chapters of side-quests would work.
Maybe in 8.3 when Ion will “come up” with tgis idea “we improved your leveling experience by allowing to do covenant stuff”.
One thing that’s important for alts is that you should still have to play the game with them. You shouldn’t be allowed to skip the game on alts because you already did it on another character.
This is not ArcheAge or FFXIV. I’m not opposed to the systems in those games that allow you to play any class on the same character, but this is not that. Although in ArcheAge you really weren’t allowed to skip the game to play any class - you had to equip a class and farm it fully in order to be able to play it at an adequate level later.
Account-wide mounts? Sure. Account-wide flying? Sure. Skipping the game on alts? No.
“I already got 235 gear on my main, why should I have to farm it on my alt” is gonna be next.
yeah i’m sure doing the covenant questline on your alt to level is going to be a huge game changer and ruin the game, really dude ?
Threads Of Fate is a lie. They take longer than Storyline. There is ZERO reason to do anything else but story marked quests, because you will hit 60 the fastest way that way and if you spam couple dungeons and BGs here and there.
Whilst I would love to do the covenant campaign as we level, I doubt it would give enough XP. It should certainly be included, though! I suppose the potential issue is getting level 60 gear whilst level 50. How would that be fixed?
I would also like to be able to level in Torghast. Not completely 50-60 but as something to do in addition, break up the monotony.
I wouldn’t oppose this. Do the campaign to get some levels and then just spam dungeons for the rest of the evening to get straight into end game.
Would be a great catch up, let you get to 60 as you complete it and have the full covenant armor on you.
Problem is, it causes blizz to lose a massive time-sink and thus money in their eyes.
Lets not pretend leveling is ”content” in this game.
