Threads of Fate Oribos Freeze

Last night I took my fresh level 80 DK (who I leveled to 70 in MoP Remix, if that matters) to Oribos for the first time after skipping the Maw Intro. As soon as I arrived the normal thing where you’re offered Threads of Fate mode happened, except the whole game froze and I needed to relog to be able to do anything. When I logged back in it was gone and I am now forced into the SL main campaign (already completed on another character) with seemingly no way to escape. I really wanted to use this character to solo through Sanctum of Domination and Sepulcher of the First Ones, but both are now locked behind an eternal and inescapable campaign. At least I can make it to Castle Nathria, but this properly ruined my night.

Hey there Rand,

So while the Threads of Fate system isn’t intended to be available to start, we’ve seen more reports of our dear Fatescribe trying to impose himself, which is being looked in to.

Glad to hear you got past it for now to keep playing anyway, even if I understand you would have preferred the skip option.

Out of interest, why was threads of fate removed? im looking at grinding some of the mounts for covenants i didnt choose on my main back in shadowlands and i dont want to have to do the campaign 3 more times just to start the actual grinding i want to do.

It seemed like a good and obvious pro alt QOL change when it was introduced and i cant think of another expansion where i would have to replay the story to be able to do something similar to choosing a covenant on an alt

There was some developer decision/reasoning behind it here, I made a whole special post for it since it came back up repeatedly:

Yes but that kind of causes issues with alts that we wanna farm old raids like sepulcher/sanctum of domination and any other zone.

We are forced to do the entire campaign on all 4 zones so we can choose a covenant and then unlock the Maw/Zereth Mortis/Korthia etc.

My DH for example can’t access any of those, any remaining alts I had who utilized the skip before its removal is fine, but any future new ones can’t access any of it.

It’s bad design not to allow accessibility to all old zones/raids unless you force yourself through the campaign worth of days.
