Yeh it’ll be like that and don’t get me wrong. A lot of tanks can’t hold aggro cos they make a lot of rotational mistakes but in higher keys people will know when they’re in danger
Indeed. It’s an issue. I hate it as a healer when aggro shifts to a dps.
to me it got worse… The initial pulls with BL, more often then not I end up losing aggro. When you’re group is all range dps, no biggie, but with melees it’s usually a bricked key. And it’s an aggro issue, becaus 99% of the time people don’t let it rip instantly as well. I’m maining a tank this season, VDH, and I’m struggling a lot…
I have a mate of mine, ~3,3k on his VDH, and he simply stopped playing cause he couldn’t deal with all the VDH bugs/aggro issues. And I’m getting close to that as I mostly log in on my VDH for vault and to help out friends getting the 3k, but everytime I do, I sweat my balls off to keep aggro…

It’s not threat, it’s: does reduced dmg beyond five targets that causes aggro loss on big pulls.
the only reason for this to happen is if the dps start the pump the moment tank starts pull.
if they dont let tank det up the pull and only then pump ? its on them not threat issue.
higest VDH in world is currently 3744 - your mate being around 3.3k score woudl put him around world 1500th VDH (really nice feat ) seems like those bugs you meantion are in rality git gud issues as plenty of people push further.
This tells me you haven’t looked at some videos of those top keypushers. They have the same problems.
Something like an elemental shaman can rip aggro still 1 minute into a pull.
Having people die to aggro or wait for 10 seconds untill start pressing a single button (even a rejuv or moonfire) is not fun. It wasn’t like this for most of the seasons. They probably don’t care about making a fix since it has been months into the season and they won’t sell anymore subscriptions.
Another reason that we won’t have a fix is: This a mythic plus problem. Tanks don’t lose aggro in the raid.
Btw, sometimes you don’t have to even do anything. Single tick of an existing starfall or lifebloom is enough to pull agro and make tank impossible to get it for 5-6 seconds.
Its kinda annoying with the threat issues. I shouldnt get aggro as healer just because my tank has earth shield on when gathering up mobs. Only experienced this with brewmaster though, but I hear VDH also has issues with threat.

If i remember i move my ES over on someone else, but sometimes the tank needs a bit of healing aswell. And the poor dps standing there waiting and still manages to get aggro on a mob they arent even targeting when they start dps’ing. Something is broken. And our brewmaster is not enjoying tanking at all this season because of these issues.
‘Setting up a pull’ doesn’t mean just running through 12 mobs, it also means getting threat on them somehow by using an ability.
If you’re getting aggro from just chugging mana tea the tank is just running through mobs and not pressing buttons.
Im not sure about other classes but VDH has agro issues, i do not even understand why its considered S tier its good but not S tier good, they should fix DH agro issues its annoying…
These instances from aggro loss I noticed to primarily happen if an individual mob does not get grouped up fast enough with the rest. For some reason in that case anything short of a taunt can pull it off from a DPS.
Part of the issue lies in the small splash range of keg smash, and I guess because in the current build we are not using rushing jade wind, and we only use spinning crane kick for some initial aggro generation during a pull (unless the pull is big).
I am lucky on my end though since the group I play with has an MM hunter in it, but you should not need to rely on Misdirection/Tricks as a tank to maintain aggro.
