Threat should be a thing of the past

It does not feel engaging. It is not fun. It bears no skill expression. I’m not talking about ripping aggro early pull, I’m talking late into setup where tanks (specifically vengeance) cannot pull the threat required to hold the mobs, making the pulls stressful for both the tank and the DPS. This is currently present even at the very highest keys and is widely acknowledged by the key pushing playerbase.

It’s getting to the point where when you proc (if applicable), you don’t feel the burst of joy, but rather fear what’s gonna happen, lowering your focus on actual gameplay and the part of it that actually requires skill; stops, kicks, movement, damage. Waiting for sunders is NOT it.

VDH has had their threat bugs that haven’t been addressed for a few expansions now. People are using BFA threat reduction enchants just to get that small amount of survivability. This cannot be the state of the game. The season is looking decent otherwise and Blizzard has tried to make significant improvements to the gameplay loop, but this issue is at the very core of what m+ is.

Threat as it is should be a thing of the past. To avoid the kiting meta present in some past seasons, there are ways to fix it without meddling with the game design. However, in the current state at the very least a SIGNIFICANT buff to overall threat is just required the scaling being as it is.

I’ve played keys actively since their inception and this is the first time I’m considering of taking a break just due to how unfun the keys with aggro issues are, which is unbearable since everything else about the game is at a personal high point.

Blizzard, fix this, address it, do something about it.

Edit. Just to reiterate, I am talking very specifically about this season while it does also apply to the game in general considering the VDH threat bugs have been in the game for a long time. Also, this issue is entirely separate from DPS going full ham while the tank is setting up and that's not what I'm talking about here. That has always been the damage dealer's fault and does not exist at these key levels.

I don’t want to add too much since the post above pretty much sums it up! As an UH DK main, currently pushing top 100 world, having a blood beast spawn early on in the pull means I have to pre-emptively run away to avoid being meleed to death.

Even when most people wait before the pull is gathered, then wait a few seconds before even setting up the burst (which takes another few seconds), it still isn’t enough …

Please fix!

Or, hear me out… don’t DPS while the tank is pulling…

Read the first paragraph and you’ll see this wasn’t the case I was talking about. I’m talking high key pulls where you intentionally wait 5-10 seconds without pressing anything after the tank has planted and after popping you rip aggro 20-30 seconds into the pull.

This has nothing to do with early aggro or trigger happy DPS players, it’s an entirely different scene on an entirely different level.

Didn’t they massively need threat generation a while ago did that get reverted or not?

I think people that plays at OP’s level is well aware of that. Threat is an issue this season for some tanks and it is annoying.

yesss I love these threads. I can only hope blizzard will do something about threat. Especially with jackpot tier sets. Unholy dk ripping aggro 30 seconds into the pull cos beast exploded for 400 trillion damage is crazy to me.
