Tier Sets - Why did they have to be removed?

Ladies and gentleman, I sincerely apologize as I am pretty sure this topic has been discussed many times, but due to the immense frustration it causes in myself, my friends and 90% of my guild mates, I cannot stand but make a post about it as well, so I apologize in advance for the annoyance of repeated posts.

WHY did Blizzard decide to remove tier sets? That is what made classes look unique each and every new raid and PvP tier. What we have now is a clown fiesta from indistinguishable gear, which is also ugly, that I’ve literally seen 0.01% of the community using, without transmogrifying it.

What is this Blizzard? Is this what you want? Us to use old gear and tier sets for our looks, instead of new, possibly cooler and with better graphics ones? What kind of logic is this? For someone like me who prefers to mog into full sets, this is really grinding my gears and I’m pretty sure there are a lot of people out there that support me on this.

In Legion there were some cool sets which I used without mogging and in the previous expansions as well. In BFA I wouldn’t even think about using any of the sets, maybe except for the plate armor from the new raid, but just MAYBE and probably for a short time.

Right now, you can’t distinguish a paladin from a dk, or a demon hunter from a druid, if they use these sets. For me, this is outrageous, and I am sure this has been explained many times by them why they removed it but, I don’t think that there is a good excuse for it. Lack of money? Lack of art team? Yeah, most of the art team were lazy as of recent, however as I stated, Legion had some dope armor sets.

This is one part of the game which bothers me enormously and even though I like the game in it’s current state and everything is well-paced, good content, lots of things to do, etc, this is one thing that might eventually lead me to quit the game if it keeps up. I simply love looking at my character a lot and to be honest, having to wear the same outfit for long periods it kind of gets dull and you get bored from it at one point. If they keep their policy with no tier sets, eventually everything that was good will get dull.

BRING BACK TIER SETS!

I’ve seen them used a lot, including on my own DH :frowning:, imo BoDA has some really nice aesthetics. I’d still prefer tier sets but that doesn’t mean it’s bad.

Didn’t like the Uldir sets much but the mythic leather one looked nice by mix and matching other sets with it.

I don’t know but I think the horns and warglaives kinda give it away in my case at least.

Also this is a generic transmog issue; ever since it’s come out you can use off-class sets.

I don’t mean there aren’t ways to make it look decent with combinations from other items and stuff, just in general it’s lame as hell to not have tiers any longer.

Well blizzard sort of wanted to get away from the tierset “re-invent the wheel” sort of mind set. Tiers seemed to be always a great struggle for blizzard, since they tended to swing around alot with powerlevels, nerf/buff classes etc. just so they could make a “tier set” with bonuses. By moving these bonuses into Azerite i have feeling the felt “less work” and more “player agency” when it comes to gear bonuses.

Well it really aint much different with gearing in general since we all go for what sims highest lol. But at least there’s more opertunity of getting somewhat “equal power gains” for most classes now compared to some classes getting +15% for 2 or 4 set bonuses compared to other classes which may get alot less etc.

Another thing were that the design team wanted to stop the “what are a priest/DK/DH?” stuff when it comes to design choices. It’s simply something they have done for… how many tiers is it now?. So in BfA they wanted to try out the “What does a troll/Kul’tiran/Uldir set look like?” approach. According to a interview with Ion so will it hopefully equal more variation in the long run compared to 6-7 recolors of class set items.

Blizz removed them cause they are obviously too lazy to rebalance specs each tier ;p

Well, then remove tier bonuses. Add the sets themselves, different for each and every class. I don’t think it would be that hard to pull off, will it?

New mythic tier set for cloth look very nice, but sad fact is that its designed for top 3% of the playerbase only
