Tiki Masks

I was doing Zul Gurub a few days ago cause i needed a pet for my Dark ranger, anyway i noticed Some NPC’s like the lesser priest of bethekk had a cool looking Tiki mask which is only available to the NPC’s.

i do wonder why the Polynesian aspect of Jungle trolls is never if rarely shown. I have requested Hibiscus flowers on left or right ear many times as customization, but now i wonder too if its possible to have these Tiki masks available as Transmog?

Edit: never mind. who am i kidding. we all know it wont happen

There are non battle Pets which you can get.

I’m sure there are some which drop. But I also seem to remember that King Rastakhan drops an Enchanting Recipe for one.

You mean hunter.

I think Trolls are supposed to have sought their influence from Caribbean, rather than Hawaiian.

Needless, damn it Blizz! Give Trolls some customisations!

as far as wowhead says, there is no Tiki masks as transmogs, otherwise they would have listed them under outfits for the NPC. perhaps you are confusing them for something else

both actually. With inspirations its never one thing, but multiple. Take the Nightborne for example which has a mixture of Greek, Byzantine, Persian, etc.

same with the Blood elves who have a mixture of Middle eastern, Byzantine, etc.

Tiki are Polynesian

No, hunter hunter

No, but you were talking about Pets.

You added transmog after I responded.

You were asking about Hibiscus’ in the hair. Which is a Hawaiian thing. The side of the hair that the Hibiscus is in is relevant to whether the lady wearing it is available or not.

Trolls are supposed to get their influence from Caribbean, Central American styles and cultures. Hence the big hoohar last year about the book which made out that Zappy boi couldn’t read.

I’m not saying that other Trolls can’t get their influence from other parts of the world though.

Just pointing out why Hibiscus in the hair might not have been looked into. I spent over a year of my life in the Caribbean, didn’t once see someone wearing Hibiscus in their hair. Yet my time spent in Hawaii, it was all over the place.

Needless, I support Hawaiian culture being brought into the Trollish empire!

as ive said, with wow they dont get their inspirations from one area, rather many. Otherwise the tikis would not have been there in the first place, as Tikis are Polynesian. Stranglethorn is heavily inspired by the Amazon Rainforest. Their accent is heavily inspired by Caribean. Its not fair to point them towards one culture when they have many, like other races of wow.

i was talking about taming pets for my Blood elf alt, as one of the panthers there has red eyes.

i dont mean tikis as pets, but i apologize for the confusion. I have a fever so my mind is 50/50

I’d argue Strangethorn was an example of Central American rainforests, Mayan and Aztec kinda stuff. Trust me, the Amazon is a whole different kettle of fish.

Trust me, I am extremely well travelled  (and that’s not a flex).

Still, I’m happy for Trolls to have as many cultures as they want. That stuff is cool!

Ah. I don’t think there are “Tiki” Masks. But there are some cool Troll Masks in the game like this one:

i already have this one, but thanks!

indeed, if you go to Wowpedia specifically the section regarding trolls it explains they have inspirations from Egyptian mummification, Aztec and Incan for the Zandalari, Caribbean accents for some trolls, African and Polynesian masks, Native American aspects, and African Loa religion.

So yes. All things found in the Caribbean and Central/Latin America with Egyptian Mummies thrown in because it fits the Temple theme.

ehm ehm… African and Polynesian too.

you know what never mind. at this point i give up. one of the many reasons im playing wow and keep coming back is roleplay and cosmetics. we dont even have our heritage armor yet which is ridiculous.
If i cant create my character in a certain way, so be it. Will find another game

Well these African cultures made their way to the Caribbean during slavery.

In fact Capoeira is a product of Slavery because the Slaves were learning how to fight, but didn’t want their Masters to find out, so they disguised it as a Dance.

I hope Blizz looked into the African side of the History. But Voodoo and stuff like that are there in the Caribbean.

As for Tiki from New Zealand/Polynesia. It’s a very interesting thing to look into. Because nobody really knows how people got to this places, where they came from or how long they had been there. But you can see similarities in cultures spanning both sides of the Pacific, even in Central/Latin America.

At the end of the day. Blizz are just pulling things from Ancient Tribes from Topical locations.

you even had mogs removed from the game

i remember the cloth shoulders, was during wod iirc. available for few weeks then removed. i even talked to a gm about, they confirmed it was unintended.

go figure

i dont think thats the case they are just not adding, and the heritage armor is proof of that. Maybe they are busy, but recently Elves got what they wanted so…idk.

But its just a flower in the hair. FF14 has a ton of cultural clothing from Arabs to Egyptian to Japanese, Korean, chinese. Really cool stuff. no one is offended by it, just like no one got offended by the Middle Eastern body and hand jewerly that blood elves got in SL.

or the Greek inspired Bastion clothing

FF14 isn’t being ran by an American company, so it’s not at all a good comparison.

How you even connect that to the middle east baffles me.

Greeks aren’t a minority as they’re considered “white”.

I went with the grey nightsaber from highmountain. The eyes match so perfectly with the dark ranger eyes, i love it.

Doesn’t everybody? They do have middle eastern elements to them which is why I was not shocked by the new customizations they got, made sense design-wise.

and that is a problem because…?

i think i know my own culture when i see it. Even silvermoon has a lot of Middle Eastern archietcure, there is Hookah everywhere, curved doors, Arabian ships, Bazaar, floor seatings, so many stuff. But as i said before, Blizzard doesnt look to one culture for inspiration, but many.

Because the political climate in the united states and in Japan are night-and-day.

In the USA everything has to be politically correct. Japan has no such problem, therefore they can add to the game whatever they want. whatever players ask for so long as it doesn’t directly harm anyone.

Square Enix literally added a stripper pole housing item, for example. That’s not something that Activision Blizzard can get away with because people would say that it “objectifies women” somehow.

i still dont understand how any of this goes against Hibiscus flowers as a hair item. Considering Taurens have native american Turquise jewelry and feathers in their customizations. Which according to some native americans i saw on youtube saying they loved this about the Taurens and relate to them. Same way im happy about the Blood elf middle eastern jewelry they added, its small but its nice to be represented and see your culture within the game no matter how small.

you are just making a big deal out of something small, bringing poltics when there is none. In any case, i have given up on customization and part of it is because of comments like this that make no sense, another part of it is the slow yet painful addition of customization and heritage armor. surely, anyone sane enough will give up eventually.

good day. im going to play some Playstation now cause im bored.
