I wanted to test Horrific Vision, and surprise, every damn upgrade is time-gated again.
A time-gated event… inside another time-gated event.
Honestly, they should’ve just named this expansion “Time Gate Within”.
At this point, I don’t even know how to feel. Are you guys seriously just sitting in the office all day brainstorming the most obnoxious, unfun ways to implement content?
I did have plans to play visions but i honestly CBA anymore. This companies practice’s are so clearly predator its crazy and despite people complaining about it constantly they still shovel money in their direction and enable it.
I hope Blizzard is embarrassed with themselves for this patch.
LITERALLY copy and pasted gear and transmogs from BFA expansion. This is supposed to be new content? Lazy, stagnant, and uninspiring. Crap like this does not belong in a subscription based game.
There are 2 types of players I think regarding this issue:
One type of player wants to play all year long, and doesn’t wanna run out of stuff to do, so they want timegating.
Other type of player wants to play on and off with small bursty periods throughout the year. They are usually very much against timegating.
More and more wow players have become the second type that plays on and off nowadays, but Blizzard’s monetization with Subscription only makes sense for the 1st type though, so they are financially incentivized to introduce timegating.
I can to a degree understand timegating content that would otherwise allow people to gear up too fast.
But they are now timegating content that offer almost nothing in terms of character power progression (apart from a 2% increase enchant, wauw).
This is just getting silly. Atleast allow the people who actually likes to do all this “do once and forget”- content (or non-tent, as i like to call it), without timegating it.
There is zero logic behind timegating content that offers no character power progression.
I think Blizzard’s problem is that people are not playing the game in a way that makes sense for their business model, so they have timegating as this artificial “fix”. If you charge a subscription, you don’t want ppl to burn through content in a week, but players wanna do that clearly
But they already have a very large portion of the player base solely being subbed to check their vault every week after doing 4-8x M10+.
You would think they might losen up about the ‘do once and forget’-content, but i guess thats wishful thinking.
Perhaps if they made more content that actually made sense in terms of the character power progression for the majority apart from weekly vault, they would have an easier time keeping people subbed without resorting to their current awful model.
I think its a time gate out of necessity
Remember when they said they wanted to push patches sooner?
I doubt these extra functions were delayed because blizzard thought it was funny, it was probably because it wasn’t done yet and they needed more time.
But maybe thats me giving blizz too much credit.
As much as one might hate timegating it is actually needed.
When WoW came out in the early 2000’s there were no timegates.
Because of this people with no self controll lost themselves in the game.
Pushing for hours and hours and the result was devastating.
People lost their jobs, family and friends. In the end it resulted in a huge re-assesment of how an MMO should work. There where even lawsuits about this and big headlines in the newspapers.
Timegating had to be implemented to contradict and handle that kind of behavior.
Now, I agree that some timegating is kind of irritating, but then I am not one of them people that cant restrain myself.
