As predicted no new ability or fixes to the specs shortcomings and a nerf to damage… Time to boycott the new spec until they fix?

What? Devourer damage was obviously a bit overtuned.
Would love to see the 5 second cooldown removed.

Yes they we’re, at least top 3 for both raids and M+, they still are.
But yeah the 5 sec cd needs to be removed, it’s just dumb in more ways then one.

On average they do tons of damage, I hear.
But thats not the problem for me.
Its dps is bottom tier as you spam one ability to start your burst.. what.. 10 seconds? 15seconds after combat start?
You dont do even aoe until then. Pull a group and sit there taking damage while you single target slowly so you can start your burst which does include aoe.
Collapsing star? Haha. You need to do some content where mobs live long enough that you can throw those out at them. Any disruption and you lose them.
The problem isnt the damage… on avarege. Its the mechanics and how long it takes to do your burst which brings your average dps high to feel good.

Devourer does very high damage, they just struggle in M0s because mobs die very fast - they will be very strong in raids and high keys - how long a fight lasts massively influences how strong or weak a spec looks and right now the frontloaded specs are dominating

They don’t even struggle in m0s. The Annihilator build does but void scarred was completely fine.

Damage is fine, it’s true that specially at the beginning of the dungeon run you do almost no damage, it is just how the spec works I guess but it just feels meh, something they could do that wouldn’t make devourer do crazy damage all of a sudden is, give devourer a free Void Ray with every 25 souls, since you start with 25 souls anyway because of a talent, you can at least start with some decent AoE damage right at the start of the run.
Also the passive soul build up out of combat to get back to 25 is way to slow, and sometimes it doesn’t even start for a very long time while out of combat, it should build up right away the moment you get out of combat, and the ticks should be a bit faster.

the haste entry level is just a bit high but the damage is not a problem
Annoying things :
- the useless 5s cd (could also remove the gcd) on Collapsing Star
- having only a 40 souls cap in meta
- not having this overcap in human form (so a void raid/reap before meta could waste a lot of souls)

Looks like even more DH nerfs inc. Wish they would fix this spec it’s got such solid foundations.
I’m not seeing nerfs, moreso just changes where damage is coming from and massively improving resource gen out of the gate, which has been the spec’s largest problem since its inception.
As well as big self healing improvements.

Weirdly it kinda doesn’t. Obviously it’s a lot better if you chain / have lots of combat uptime but it doesn’t take long to get into your first meta and your first two stars come really quickly.
You can often go meta, star, eradicate, void ray, eradicate, star on packs which does massive burst damage.
maybe it changes at max level, but now it feels like even 1 star is hard to reach at level 85 in quests and low level delves/dungeons
It changes for numerous reasons, yes. The most obvious of which being you get a star immediately upon entering meta.
The next one being that annihilator has a talent that generates a large number of souls when you use your first star of a meta, quickly accelerating you towards a second one.
which means that they fudged the experience bellow the cap.
