Time to remove Tank penalty for trinkets and items with damage procs

Just as the titel says. Why on earth is that even a thing? its not like we have alot to choose from. Hell even the new ring got the procs nerfen on tanks. Can you please just let us play the game without funny penalty’s on items ?

If you want to dps, switch to Frost or Unholy.

If tank could do good damage you’d have a lot more of them around

Yet the game will award you a DPS trinket, even when you specifically selected tank loot spec.

How would you feel like when randomly you would just get 10-25% weaker version of, for example, a chest item, that pretends to be the same item level?

you have my full support on this topic

its sad/stupid change, but yeah having less tanks in the pool is always a good countermeasure

Quite a lot of quirks that just seem over complicating things.
I’d love for things to be more face-value and less… scaley.

How are those DPS queues atm ?

No idea, I am a healer.

Ye. If they made the tanks a little stronger and do more dmg. im sure there would be alot more tanks around.

and thats the part thats weird. same loot. just weaker…???

I know why blizzard has done it, to avoid tank stacking. There’s an easy fix, for each extra tank in an M+ group, reduce all tanks damage by 25%.

Boom, fixed it. Now let tanks do similar damage to dps. It’s fun

That is not a thing and never will be. DPS will always do a lot more dmg than any tank ever. Even if a tank manages 2.5m on a pull, a similarly geared dps can puah 7m DPS.

They did that to force the tanks and healers to prioritise mitigation and buffing/healing trinkets. That is all.

This is not a bad thing, but they have implemented it in a bad way, as usual.

yep force us, you will have less and less ppl in the queue

you have already struggle to hold aggro against super spiky dds(enh sham) and ppl want, that you go more def, even you cant get the aggro

In a raid you always pick the most dmg , because you dont die as tank

We would have more tanks, but not exactly because players would want to tank. We would have more dps players that chose to play tank at that point due to lower queue, ie. faster reward for them.

I don’t know what the situation is in higher difficulty content, but even in LFR and low M+ difficulties it is amazingly easy to understand when someone plays a tank because they like tanking and when they play it because they are after getting their reward faster. Warriors not using Ignore Pain, Death Knights not using Rune Tap, not to mention having 2 trinkets that proc damage instead of absorb-shield or self-heal.

Indeed, and this happens as a healer because some of these trinkets share stats with the roles. I consider it an issue that needs to be addressed.

The current design paradigm, where the concept of resource-management is nearly non-existent and out-of-combat recovery is nearly instantaneous, will unfortunately never entice tanks and healers to focus on self-mitigation and healing respectively, exactly because it promotes getting done with combat as fast as possible because there is nothing to recover, ie. cause a delay, when out-of-combat. When the game, however, was designed such that spending 3x more mana to keep the group alive and end combat 10seconds faster meant having to spend 30seconds sitting to recover it, it was more advantageous for the tank to focus on self-preservation as priority and the healer on hpm instead of hps.

They fixed it before, then unfixed it. It was a thing called Vengeance.

I mean Vengeance was also mainly used as a threat generator because tanks fell further and further behind on threat generation throughout the tiers (especially with mages, rogues and warlocks going ballistic with their scaling back then).

Vengeance right now would however cause the rise of the paper tanks because of “but i need to do damatsch!”

Maybe it’s time to decouple threat from damage, at least for the tank role. Maybe make any enemy “stick” to a tank as long as the tank has hit it in the last 5-10 seconds, but let tank-swap still exist with (AoE) taunts
