Timeline for death of Pantheon

Hey everyone,

I am at the brainstorming stage of the redesigning of the whole Warcraft universe for my story, and I have no idea about this (if it was changed/retconned/whatever). So, my question is: based on WoWWiki, the Titans blessed the 5 aspects with their powers, HOWEVER, this was at the time of Galakrond, which is kind of a “mortal-can-imagine-time”, not too cosmical… so how could the Titans, who were part of the Pantheon, bless the aspects, if Sargeras imprisoned them?

Did the whole “killing everyone before I start my crusade” happened after Galakrond’s defeat? I’m pretty sure it happened waaaaay before this “mortal” stuff with zombie dragons and aspects, but I am probably missing a huge retcon regarding Sargeras.

So.

If anyone has any lead on which happened before - blessing of the Aspects or imprisoning the Pantheon -, that would be a huge help.

Thanks :dracthyr_blob_dance_animated:

Yes. Let me explain how the retcon/recontextualization works and how to make sense of it. Srageras started his crusade, later on the Titans blessed the Aspects, in WotLK we learned from Algalon that the Titans have a fail safe and that he is going to contact them in order to trigger it (we convince him not to), in MoP we learn that the Titans are dead, and in Legion we learn that only their physical forms were killed and their souls are imprisoned. Soo we can assume that the A) Algalon still believed the Titans to be alive during WorLK, however we have no idea when he contacted them for the last time, and B) that the Titans died before Ra-den got into his depression but after Ra-den created the Mogu.

Thank you :dracthyr_love_animated:

So, based on this, the Aspects are like 30k+ years old? I dunno why I thought that Sargeras started his crusade way before any intelligent life was created on Azeroth, or anywhere in the world… it feels so cosmical that I personally wouldn’t put any (even estimate) timing for that.

Anyhow, this will clear it up for me I guess :dracthyr_shrug:

Just had a quick google search, the best answer was “more than 10 000 years ago”. Also it has to be after intelligent life existed because his mission was to enslave worlds, oh and I think it is still cannon that he got corrupted by the Dreadlords (SL confuses me).

This is the mantra for half of the characters in the universe, seriously…

I’ll probably rewrite the whole cosmos for my story and make it more distant, or something like that. Thanks for the clear up :dracthyr_heart:

According to warcraft wiki, who estimated the Years from the descriptions given within the Novel “War of the Scaleborne”:

Year 20,235 before the Dark Portal: The Dragon Aspects defeat Galakrond and become empowered by the Titan Pantheon.

Year 20,015 btDP: Sargeras betrays the Titans and defeats them at Nihilam.

So there’re a good 220 years between the empowering of the Aspects and the defeat of the Pantheon.

Keep in mind, according to lore: Velen is over 25,000 years old, so older then the Aspects themselves.

Yes, this is what buggers me!

Oh, I checked the "official timeline on WoWWiki, and there it says:

" Charge of the Dragonflights - the keepers create the Dragon Aspects" under “unknown date”…

I wonder what else will I find at this point, God forbid I get to another hold up :dracthyr_cry_animated:

Well tbf if you are going for redesign just go for whatever sounds good for you. Titan lore and event dates are so vague that even the writers ignore them and do whatever. Just don’t do the whole “first ones” and “Cosmic 3D printer that creates universes” thing.

Do not look at wowpedia or wowwiki, as the latter only copies from the former.

Best website to use for lore-questions is warcraft-wiki, the sucessor of wowpedia.

I don’t even understand the concept of the “first ones” to be fair… I’m planning a more of a “Bible-like” or what it was essentially with the “light and void clashing and it created the universe” thing. Also keeping Sargeras as some sort of demon lord acting out of fear of eternal void and darkness rather than a corrupted/manipulated dude, as the lore is so full of these kind of individuals.

Thank you! I’ll use it for sure!

The First ones created the cosmic 3D printers, the 3D printers created the Titans and everyone is essentially a robot.
