I’ve seen this happen as well and it is common when there is a level difference between healer and the tank.
For the most part, geared lvl 80 tanks appear to be taking no damage at all, but if you do land a critical heal on them which does not spill into overhealing, you’re instantly going to steal aggro with 3000% threat and this is very obvious on some bosses with intermission phases where they usually become temporarily immune to damage. Once back online, they go for the healer.
Also there’s an issue with lower than tank level healers first hitting, in which case something like an ambush-Rake or a basic ranged Sun/Moonfire creates so much threat on a boss that even if the tank instantly taunts it, aggro will switch back to the healer after a few seconds of passive damage.
So as a Monk, if i spinning crane kick it is enough to pull all the aggro off the tank and onto me. Trying to level using dungeons at the moment is terrible as no one queues for low level dungeons and TW queue seems to be the only one that pops
There’s definietly a problem with timewalking dungeons if you’re a low level healer and the tank is level 80 - this week I was doing cata dungeons, qued up as a monk healer and I would get aggro off the tank by pressing literally just one button.
It is even when healer is lvl15 and tank is lvl20
I did the timewalking dungeons with my lvl20 characters, and one time I got lvl15 healer, needed to taunt boss all the time. The normal mobs no idea, but it looked that they are on me most of the time.
