I have had a decent idea in which blizzard could re introduce the MoP challenge mode sets or their accessibility whilst maintaining somewhat level of Rareness by simply recoloring them slightly (not the ones used in legion, the items look completely different). My suggestion is this.
Currently time-walking is simply used as a method to Level up old characters through content they cannot be bothered to run through once again which is okay but why not create a bigger incentive to participate in them? my idea of Time-walking in particular focusing on MoP and WoD is to add the ability to part take in Challenge mode dungeons these can be similar to mythic plus affixes for example
In january there is a mists of pandaria time-walking event: during this week 3 mists of pandaria dungeons are open to the Challenge mode affix allowing groups of players to complete the dungeon, if they do complete it with the “Gold” timer it adds towards their progress achievement towards the unlocking of CM sets. this means the set pieces would still take a large amount of time to collect and missing a week would mean you’d basically have to wait a very long time to get another shot at getting your set.
The next time Time walking - mists of pandaria becomes available, 3 other dungeons are selected and Opened for challenge mode. etc etc same with Warlords of draenor time-walking.
this could create for blizzard a incentive to maintain your subscription to the game whilst farming these sets (could take a whole year perhaps) and giving us the ability to actually recieve these amazing sets. (it seems theyre kinda wasted becoming unavailable so soon, i have the rogue set but i would really like the DK set)
I’m gonna stop you right there. No this should NOT happen. Yeah, it sucks if you didn’t play back in Mists of Pandaria, but there should be some veteran player rewards in the game. Currently most things are easily obtainable by everyone, there is no prestige for thous of us who have stuck with the game through the years.
Again I do not have either Challenge mode gear on my Druid (nor magetower for that matter) and I wish I had, but reintroducing them would devalue the skins that people already have which is not cool.
Just try to live with it and hopefully you get cool cosmetics in 8.3, and then someone in couple years will be making all these threads about how they also should get that cosmetic piece.
the thing is I did play back then, reintroducing them wouldn’t be such a bad thing especially if they’re re-colours, by time gating them for over a year it still makes them fairly rare. but u get my point there hasn’t been a single tier / patch where weve had good quality sets such as those
or at least unlocking them for people who played back then and have completed the CM gold achievement, like I did 4 dungeons on my DK but did not have enough time to gear it enough to time them as I did on my rogue
I think bringing in the recolored/unreleased color variants of the set could be interesting, albeit unlikely that they’d re-release CMs due to how both class balance and game as a whole has changed making the old CMs easier than they were back then.
I wouldn’t care if they re-released the CM items, I have the hunter set and the weapons, couldn’t care less if I see people run around in it just as they did in MoP. The novelty wore off in 5.2 anyway.
That’s a lie since you literally did not need gear for CM. You couldn’t out gear it since you got downgraded to heroic item level. Sure you could try min-max your secondary stats, but that wasn’t necessary.
I also did MoP CMs with several characters, but obviously not with this Druid since this is like a month old character.
Legion Class Hall gear is already recolor of the MoP CM set expect with different shoulders.
At least I like not seeing the CM gear on everyone, it shows that thous who have it had put at least little effort into the game.
They’ve different shoulders sure, but I’m talking about the unreleased color variants of which most were better than what we got lmao.
If you google the CM set datamining from MoP they’ll come up.
Idk 50k wasn’t that hard to get and it’s what majority of owners of CM sets did back then as they do now with keys and raids.
CMs weren’t that hard once you got to 5.2 when you got a billion sockets on your gear and those who bought a boost wasted their money imo.
It wasn’t a lot of effort to do CMs, let’s not kid ourselves on that, was a couple hours at best, I’d say equal to about 6 hours accounting for fails, travel time and what not.
Everyone and their nan wore CM gear in MoP, don’t see how it would change by releasing the alt color variants as those with the original set(s) can still flex if they so desire.
But hey, that’s just my opinion and you have a different one and both are fine!
Yet it was too much for many people and people keep making threads like this. You can’t dismiss their prestigiousness because there is obvious demand for them even if they were easy to obtain.
This just wasn’t true or at least wasn’t on my realm.
There is no reason to release MoP or WoD CM gear again even with recolors, rather what we need is new Challenge Mode dungeons and new Challenge Mode gear.
In the same vein people call for HC mode versions of previously Mythic only or for nerfs to M+ but sure.
These threads don’t pop up that often, I can count on one hand how many pop’d up the past two years.
Guess that also depended on realms, saw quite a few on both my now long dead original RP realm and CM sets for ages on TN which I played on during MoP to SH which had lots too for its time. They were not as rare as people make them, they are now because people stopped mogging them or quit due to the declining quality of the game.
New CMs is also an acceptable solution, but they’d have to axe the M+ system as that is what CMs basically evolved into.
Obviously a bit of sarcasm in the axeing comment, but really I’d love to see a return of old style CMs with gear and stats scaled down to HC dungeon gear at the time.
Actually “the not having gear part” was aimed at the trinkets you wanted to make CMs trivial, trinkets similar to blademaster trinket in WoD made Challenge modes a lot easier then they were at the time.
its not necessarily about the effort needed into getting gear for CMS its more about being lucky enough to get the trinkets that weer used to make them the “cookie cutter” build for CMS I personally only did PVP in mop so my access to the trinkets was very limited
Thing is you could easily get the trinkets, most if not all used the crafted+one of the MSV ones due to the proccs just being too good.
Generally even without BiS CM “gear” they weren’t hard, hell I did mine in early 5.4 when I had a group for it and none of us had BiS far from it. We did most in 2 takes.
my point still stands tho, as an individual that only played PVP back then I could not really access them as easily as others, they weren’t hard what was hard however was forming a group that was OKAY with you not having these items in theory you could do them in blue gear but does that mean people would take you in or stay in your group nah not really. I honestly think they should at least put the sets up on black market AH similar to the Tier 3, its giga rare and its giga impressive seeing someone with the set so it wouldn’t strip it away from CM gear
Ideally I don’t see content being removed, but BMAH is like the most boring way or earning stuff in my opinion. Grind a load of gold - doable by everyone if you wanna spend the time it takes- then sit until 1min left in a bid war or just cap it outright zzzz.
But again, different opinions, I’d rather earn my stuff than buy it and others would rather outright buy it than earn it and that’s fine.
