Tips for newbie DH tank

Hello! So i recently started playing as DH tank in night fae covenant (not switching it) . I play fiery brand build with right legendary for it, got almost only haste/versa stats on gear and I realy enjoy it. I did all of dungs on +9 and one on +12 but I lose my confidence in me being a good tank. Sometimes people just flame me and leave (and others say i did good but how to tell which one is right), for example yesterday while doing sanguine depths skip before 1st boss hunter pulled room and blamed me that i couldnt take all mobs on me and we wiped. Im 210ilvl as tank now, missing defensive trinkets tho. I usually jump in pack with demom spikes and then immo aura for some threat, throw some sigil, soul cleave, fiery brand since it spreads and im having a good uptime on it, but sometimes I just jump in and i see heavy hits getting me and i lose my shlt and start to panic abit. I have MDT addon so know the route but still I think Im missing something so I will be grateful for all the tips you can give me. I also have a little bit problem with agro when Im jumping in and people start bursting mobs and few of them start to escape and Im trying to catch them but lose others, it usually somehow goes good and im catching them afterall but should i have problems like this? Constructive critic is also something i want to see if you have it for me.

I am not as good as you but I am tanking pretty much since WOTLK and as a general rule - tanking is a thankless job. You will get blamed for everything.

Don’t worry, it’s definitely, 100% not your fault that you have some noob hunter pulling things and then blaming you for dying to them.

Hunters are just trap this season. 80% of hunters are clueless eventhough they have rio to show. I avoid them, because usually they either have low overall dmg, or they fail basic boss mechanics, or just pull what they shouldnt.
You cannot expect them to soothe, to trap or to missdirect you…
Everybody just plays hunter these days and because it is easy to get in pug group as hunter, you see many of them on high rio, while their play does not meet the expectation. While on the other hand, for example high rdudu player or high vengeance players cannot be carried by group, so their rio is mostly relevant

Now on to the point: The basic rule you must remember while tanking these days is, that kiting is the way. Especially for vengeance since… well since they were introduced. We were always kite tank. Now because of the fiery soul legendary, we can stay in the pack for a while, but we are not supposed to face tank everything on higher keys.
Use your mobility, that´s one of the reasons why we are the top tank this season (good for you, that you have NF fox form). Last season we were at the bottom, because we haven´t got tools to stay in the pack for longer period, which lead to aggro loss or death. Now you can just do some dmg, run away, return when ready. Rinse and repeat.

 Also track your DPS cooldowns and healer externals for some big D pulls and try to plan pride for anything nasty you wish to do.
The best route is the route, you and your team are comfortable with. Not the one you find on the internet. Discuss, learn from mistakes and try to find regular stable group. So everyone knows what to expect from you, and you know what to expect from them.

And the initial aggro part: it´s half tank´s problem and half the dps. I always throw skull on the focus target, so I let the mage know, what to roast and prevent him getting killed. It is nice to have fel devastation for the start, its nice to have mobs in one place so you can cleave them.
But here comes the DPS responsibility to help you: to kick ranged casters, so they can get to you. To give you a few seconds before going nuts with dmg.
Like you cannot do anything about a mage, who starts comboostig, before you even have chance to hit the first mob. (Or about hunter who instead of missdirect ninjapulls the room, you intend to skip)

ROFL Hunters pulling mobs as a meme goes back to Classic

Hunters and all FOTM rerollers are big yikes traps. They will more likely than not not play their class at a good enough level or will actually work towards breaking a run.

The problem is, as a pug, it’s not easy to distinguish which hunter is a real hunter player and which hunter is a fotm reroller. An actual hunter player is really good, a fotm is sketchy.
