Tips & tricks

I thought it might be fun to share tips and tricks in this topic. I would love to read about the things you’ve discovered in making a nice home while building.

For instance, I used the rotated window trick where you put a closet to the room, put plants and bushes in it and then rotate the windows. However, the diffused light is very blue and cold which is not really fitting with the style I’m going for as I want a warm cozy feeling in my house. I’ve discovered that if you put a mechagon artificial sun behind the window and higher up so you don’t see it you get warmer light like sunlight shining through the windows. Another and cheaper option is putting a chest or table in front of the window and put a boralus bottle lamp on it. Even when small the light coming from it is enough to make the cold light much warmer.

I would love to hear your tricks and tips.

Hmm. You can make custom doors.

Tip 1: The default door can be clicked, no matter what object you place in front of it. So you can make all sorts of creative entrances and exits, by building them in front of (or over) a door.

For example, if you want, you can flip a door horizontal, build a little platform with a teleporter over it in your house, and players can click the door below their feet straight through the platform and teleporter to exit the house. They only need to be in clicking range.

Tip 2: The Amani sell one unlockable decor item, the Colossal Stone Amani Head, that is truly gigantic. At 200% it is as tall as a 3 story building.

Perfect if you need something to cover a lot of surface, with 5 decor budget costs. As long as you don’t mind it being green. It’s what enabled me to build a giant 5 story stronghold (by helping fill up large gaps between those side structures of my medium Horde House), with the backs of the statues facing outwards.

I would love to have the Colossal Stone Amani Head as a decor item. But I have not unlocked it yet. Saw on Reddit that someone build a Troll exterior with it, blowing it up to 200% and putting it on the top of the house, then build around it.

I used the door trick too!

Another tip that I read on Reddit and used. When you use the small octagon room you can take the Draconic Circular Rug and blow it up to 200% and it will fit the entire room, giving it a whole different look.
