I had same situation me and my wife BOUGHT SUB 2 DAYS AGO and i contacted customer support to tell them that servers are locked and that i didnt find any info about that and when they will unlock them.

Well??!! My son is sitting at character creation screen of Firemaw spamming create on his very first wow character since I told him it will be finally available tonight. 25 minutes ago.

firemaw is no destination realm
Well how the hell am I supposed to know that?? It says nothing anywhere in launcher or game.
I literally installed Mists for him yesterday after taking a 2 year break myself and we have been trying to create his first char ever since

yup they dont communicate well. if you seek for firemaw it would be under the “active” tab as “shek’zeer” now

Thank you I’ll look into that. All my chars are on Firemaw so logically I tried to make his there.

firemaw and all the old servers are perma locked brother
they are donezo, for good.
the destination (active) realm that firemaw transfers to is called “shek’zeer” so that’s where all of firemaw is funneled to if you want to tell your son that, that’s where he should make the character
because as things are right now, he will not ever be able to make a character on firemaw ever. and it will slowly dwindle like the other old realms as they free transfer to the new ones for whatever reason blizz decided it

I Think two weeks ago one of the devs asked on Twitter, what peoples opinion would be if there was only one PVE realm per reagion. Few days latere there was the first blue post announcing all realms would be gone, and lsat week they locked all realms

Thank you! Yeah I figured it out now. I thought the tabs on realm selection are just different languages, so I literally didn’t even read the word “active”.
I can indeed move some of my old Wrath characters to Shak’Zeer, but sadly the character creation is still locked there. We will keep trying until his bed time anyway.
Why the hell must random forum dwellers tell me all this is insane. My disappointment is beyond measure.

yeah it’s a very strange time and things are not as they should be, many many issues and blizz dont really care about classic so their classic team gets scraps to work with
i can tell you that shekzeer character creation does work and i just made some to test, i had to exit wow and re open though and the servers changed from “locked” to “full” and i could make chars

I had to transfer my wrath char there, I think the fact it was full maybe prevented first character creation, or it was just bugged. As soon as Lvl 80 Nicolay was there, the character creation unlocked. Thank you all for your help, if only Blizzard was at least a bit as helpful as their fanbase. <3

its random what worked for me earlier was just changing realms until it worked. dont have to have a char on it already. Always the greatest work by our indi company overlords

Please enable character creation also in Legacy servers, at least for existing players on them. We need more characters to move all of our stuff to new server
