My family and I decided to play on a MoP Classic server together. Two of us managed to create characters before Blizzard suddenly “closed character creation due to merging into a mega server.”
The other two weren’t so lucky. They had already paid for subscriptions (!) only to find out they can’t create a character on any MoP Classic server at all. This is ridiculous. Even private servers communicate better than this.
We joined with the intention of playing together as a family, and now half of us are locked out with no warning. Are we supposed to just sit and pay for nothing? Can we expect some sort of refund or at least an actual explanation from Blizzard?

Yeah it’s absolutely hilarious with the complete radio silence from Blizz, we were supposed to be able to create characters on legacy realms. It’s literally in their own FAQ

I was waiting for this patch to come out and for the servers to merge so that I could create a new character and start from the beginning. I followed the news, but I didn’t see anywhere that new characters wouldn’t be able to be created. I don’t want to play with the ones I already have because I don’t have anything new. I wanted a fresh start. I pay sub and I can’t make a new character. Then I looked on the forums where I found information that the creation of characters will be possible in the next week or two. That’s almost half of the sub that will throw in vain! So I immediately canceled the sub, and permanently. I am also thinking of deleting the account completely. I’m definitely going back to the private server. If someone from Blizzard is reading this, and I hope they are, ask yourself why people are leaving you and private servers are full of players.

Yep, totally appreciate this, it was always going to be very disruptive having creation locked down on all the realms but folks were very concerned about having character names taken before they could transfer and we had limited, painful, options we could use in the time we had.
However seeing as how this is also messing with Faction Change and Name Change, we do not want to wait a whole week anymore for re-enabling character creation, instead we will be unlocking all the Destination Realms for character creation on Saturday 27th at 6pm GMT.
This is the absolute peak time for Mists of Pandaria Classic each week in EU, so hopefully this time slot gives as many people as possible a chance to reserve names for those who have not yet elected to transfer.
Please share this information around to friends and guild members to make sure as many people are possible are ready!

TOM, Could you at least answer one of the PvP threads? If the current state is simply ‘take it or leave it,’ then say it outright so players know there’s no hope left.

So this, copied from your own FAQ: “During this time we will continue to allow new and existing players to create characters on the original source realms, after we have finished with this character creation block on the destination realms, we will close the old realms to new players.” was a complete lie then?

why should we do your job for you email everyone put on launcher but dont expect paying customers to do your job.

Which friends? All my friend, include me, left after you change PvP realms to PvE.
I will come back when you notice this is nonsense and take PvP realms with faction balanced back.

What about the source realms? You said they are closed for NEW players. You never said that we couldnt create new characters on there. Historically you could always create new chars on a locked server if you already had atleast one there. Absolutely disgusting.

with your fellow developers: This is not a way to treat your player base. Give us:
- information and communication - also in the launcher
- a PvP realm, same as US
- the possibility to create characters on the RP realm for new players as well, same as US

The professionalism Blizzard is showing is equal to a primary school group work. You really need to up your game:
- Logical reasoning to know the effects of your actions beforehand
- Better communication: Why do I stumble about this in a random player created forums post?
- Respectless ideas: Tell your friends? You do know that your decision is utterly respectless against many groups of players because not all are that well connected and some can’t play as often as they’d even manage to be there during these short days? Ever came to your mind that this way you are actually discriminating against sick, disabled etc people? No of course not, because WoW has become one of the most disgusting, racist etc gaming communities.
- Come up with solutions that work for everyone and also in edge cases. WTF. You are just leaving the impression that we are meant to make Blizzard a billion dollar company, but you on the other hand (Blizzard, not the poor soul that has to hold their head towards us) do not want to even spend like 1000 dollars to make a computer science student find a solution, and I tell you, that is about the investment needed for any remotely talented programmer to come up with way better solutions.
Just to be clear, since I come from toxic Firemaw anyway, I am happy with the merge, more friendly players come in. But the way you implemented it, oh Jashin, what the heck did you even think, did you think at all because right now I see no evidence of that.

Hello, most people do not frequent the forums, they just login and play. If a friend didn’t tell me about this I would be none the wiser and just continue playing on a slowly dying server. The game itself still logins just fine directly on Firemaw without any notification/warning. Please add some sort of in-game notification about this when logging in to these Legacy servers about what is happening. Thanks.

Why is “No player named _____ is currently playing” still a thing after 11 Years? It’s especially brutal now that there are Megaservers. We raided yesterday and it was A NIGHTMARE! We couldn’t invite or whisper some guildies.
We tried the guild tab… not working
We tried /invite *playername+realmname"… not working
We tried rightclicking the playericon and press invite… not working
Solution? We created a custom group in the dungeon browser, to be able to invite everyone to the raid!
Sending ingame mail is a nightmare too by getting messages that the character is the wrong faction… NICE!
