To those who don't use Dragonriding

I’m here to ask a simple question; How many of you have gone around and actually obtained the Dragonriding Talents around the Isles, before deciding you didn’t like it?

One of the most repeated complaints I’ve seen, has been about how you never have Vigor when you need it; How slow it is to recharge, how you have to start off high up, in order to get anywhere, etc.

So, I’m offering to help with that. I’m more than happy to hop in-game, right now, and help you obtain those talents. To work with you and see if I can’t help you understand it a bit better.

There’ll be no gold charge, no trading fee, none of that. If you’re interested, leave a reply and we’ll get something worked out. If not, that’s okay too, and I hope you enjoy the game in the way you like.

I know there are folks out there with motion sickness issues. While I understand there’s little I can do to help address that, I’d be willing to test a few things, if I can get someone with motion sickness to volunteer and help out.

Sincerely, someone who just wants to help.

Only reason I’d use the old TBC one is when you’re quickly flying from point to point within a quest where you’d be starved of Vigor otherwise, or AFK in the air :stuck_out_tongue:

do the small event thing that makes you follow that owl and you’ll see why dragonriding isn’t perfect. i use it to travel long distances but if i’m doing a quest or planning to go afk i use regular riding

It’s also good to get to treasures and gathering nodes.

I just prefer the slower flying myself (and yes i’ve got all the glyphs) , I accept i’m probably the odd one out here

I have a suspicion it’s why we got old flying rightaway after all. Just imagine the intense rage on the forum if not

I was so happy I could calmly flap chase the bird on my druid lol.

Truth be told, I did the same thing with that treasure ^^’

It’s definitely got its use cases, for sure!

Most definitely not the odd one out, I’m sure there are many others like you that do!

My post wasn’t really meant as an “I want to show you why this is superior”, but more like an “I want to show you that it can be enjoyable, if you give it the chance.” Especially to the ones who tried it, then decided there and then that they didn’t want to do it again.

I finished collecting all the glyphs with a regular flying mount after I got pathfinder so as decent as your offer is no one really needs help collecting them any more (looking at you annoying glyph on top of that ridiculously high mountain)

I did that one as one of the first. Only later I realised I should have done it last. Instead of wisely giving up, I stubbornly kept trying until I had it. Took me about half an hour I think with getting my three vigor back, flying a bit higher, falling off the mountain again etc.

All of them.

True, but the talents you get aren’t enough. Even now.
Sure, for travelling from A to B it’s enough. But for ‘gameplay within the open world’ it’s not. If you’re gathering for instance, you’re constantly running out of vigor. It’s just not fun.

And I will admit: No matter what talents they give, it’ll never be enough for me.
I don’t like resource management when I’m flying. I just don’t. I’ll be happy if vigor is just outright removed because I enjoy the ‘feeling’ of flying with dragonriding.

There should be a DF talent to regenerate X vigor instantly when landing, to make it proper for the short quests trips or gathering.

Thats the only issue with it.

Honestly, I had not considered that… Ah well, the offer’s still on the table, for any who want to try it ^^

Well, there IS a talent now that lets you regain 1 Vigor instantly, up to three times, with a three minute recharge for each charge used…

after we got the opportunity to use our old mounts, I only use it now.
a lot easier if you are treasure hunting and have to land on a branch, with the old mount.
and when navigating through that sea of trees, the old is also best.
and yes, i collected all the glyphs at once, and had no problems with vigor, but the old mounts are just better, and a lot prettier ( my solar spirehawk) than the %¤#&&! Dragons

So you will show me how to do the following:
01: Hover in front of a pet tamer in the air as I swap out my various pets to undertake the various pet battles. Be aware that if you do this on the ground the game will swap out your companion pet to the last pet you chose so you are forever respawning your favourite pet. You can avoid the problem by using a proper flying mount.
02: Have my companion pet spawn with me immediately I land just as happens with flight masters. Each time I use the dragon I lose my companion pet.
03: Hover in front of a farming node so that I can land actually on top of the node where the mountain has no adjacent platform.
04: Hover endlessly, all the time, without help.
05: Take off from a ledge, free fall and then simply come out of the fall at the very point of the vertical drop without moving forward, sideward, backward so I can survey an item directly in front of me.
06: Avoid any forward thrust movement from a flying stance. ie take off and simply rise vertically without being charged forward.
07: Avoid the dragon mana completely so that I can fly and stop in the air to check map, pack contents, quest log, email etc and then continue my journey.
08: On reaching a map marker hold my position over the specific map location whilst I check my status before slowly travelling down. With no limit on time as a penalty.
09: Change the dragon for a flying duck.

Most amusing I find is that players have to sit on their duck er sorry dragon all the time and use them also as a ground mount. Personally I can’t stand the things and no amount of talents are going to make me want to use one. And I don’t have to thankfully.

I mean, honestly, no, you’ve got Classic/Static Flight for all of that.

As the main post suggested (perhaps a little vaguely which is my bad), I’d have been showing people that the Vigor system isn’t as restraining as they believe it to be, and that using it isn’t as difficult or problematic as it’s been made out to be.

That said, you do you, and keep on doing you! ^^

All of them yes, dragon riding makes me want to throw up, basically I get motion sickness.

I’m loving having my slow flapper.

Very kind of you to offer to carry people around!!!

For me it’s also a case of being able to use my hard earnt mounts again tbh, and like I said I just prefer the slowness, I do use the dragonflying one if I need to get to a rare fast in the new zone though

I think there should be a feature that if you face-plant yourself into a mountain at a certain speed then it gives you full Vigour as an adrenaline rush…

Yeah they made flying mounts that fall out of the sky sometimes. Nice one bliz

Would not have matterd. As the treasure moves on your map and ends up at the next point. So DF or old style either way you would have done it.

You not alone there are plenty folks who either use one or switch between both.
