Today I will remind you

Yet not every person with social anxiety approaches RP like you. Even I’m in shoes of a person with social anxiety yet mine was much worse years back than it’s now. And just because we have it better doesn’t mean everyone has it on the same level.

The difference between us is, I show some common sense and you just like staring like a creep, from your reply.

Edit: For anyone else with social anxiety, do not just stand there like a creep, join in the rp, have fun, it helps a lot more than just being a creep, it helped me and it can help you, meet a lot of cool folk this way.

I know your viewpoint and I kind of had a likewise mentality once but honestly, I only do group content with the guild I’m in and we’re a RP guild and were doing just fine without OOC members

Without getting into the arguement of what to do with OOCers that are already on the realm; the biggest sin an OOCer can commit outside of griefing is recruitment of other non RPers from other non RP realms, don’t do that and people won’t go actively out of their ways to resist it

As for watching people RP, personally I wouldn’t mind if it happened to me but it is no different from just hardcore staring at people who are having a conversation on the street, if you want to watch have the decency to ask

Yeah, keep going with your accusations. Just because I’m saying I’m okay with some staring and showing understanding towards some OOCers doesn’t mean I’ll be staring you or anyone like a creep OOCly, or if I stand/fly somewhere apparently staring I may as well be (behind my screen) paying attention to something else than RP around me (editing TRP for example or having a private chat while I just stopped to type lol).

Totally understandable if you’re uncomfortable people OOCly watching you sometimes, I’ve had that too but then I also want to point out their intentions aren’t always malicious while that risk is always present while online.

Doing game content when not roleplaying is not what we mean by being an OOCer anyway. Even I am not so pure! I love a good bit of PvE and often talk of how cool it would be to see the Red Venturers smash up a raid.
The issue is people joining the realm with no intention to RP, perhaps as Sylvare says then recruiting others to come along to this RP realm as if RP is just a funny little set of letters, who then become aghast at the idea that maybe with all those other options available they should have taken one of them instead.

If you RP, even seldom and tentatively, you are an RPer.

Keep in mind, you don’t have to have malicious intent while also being a staring creep.

Having people just stare at me and not saying anything for long periods of time is always upseting, rather than just put yourself in the shoes of one person, see the perpctive of both of them, how it would feel.

OOCers are really important to the realm you can’t survive without them, they’re more representative of Argent Dawn than you elitist fake fans so maybe you elitists should be thankful of the service they’re doing to your realm -.-

Edited out the bit where the guy was spamming some genuinely racist stereotypes directed towards black people

Define “long period”. I think I’ve showed understanding towards your side but that doesn’t mean I’ll have to adopt it wholeheartedly. Calling people creeps so readily doesn’t encourage compassion as much as it does attacking you in same manner you’re trying to attack me.

OOCers don’t have an excuse. If you do not ever have the intention to RP just don’t come here. That being said some people end up taking a break from RP and that’s fine. So long as you showed initiative and used the server for its intended purpose.

If Blizzard was good at policing their own game, I would entirely agree with you. If disturbing roleplay was a punishable offense, not only would griefers disappear, but the remaining OOCer population would have more restraint when it comes to interfering with roleplay when they play the game or watch it.
Unfortunately, this is not the case and since we can´t really remove them from the server, I believe the best course of action is to repeat and repeat and repeat the point that Argent Dawn isn´t some heaven where rivers are filled with honey (like certain YouTuber who sounds like completely different human when he streams). If you don´t intend to RP, this is not a good server for you.
Hopefully, this will dissuade at least some OOCers from coming to this server so the problem doesn´t get even more out of hand.

I´m not some circus animal so I don´t see why I should want people who see me as such on this server.

How is the line vague if you want to role play then AD is the place for you, if you do not want to role play then :point_right: :door:

Also ofc role players do content stop bringing this strawman up

Sometimes to watch those more experienced is to learn the basics, and ideally once you’re confident enough about “getting the basics” you’d try it out yourself. That doesn’t make roleplayers on the server circus animals… and if we go to those arguments, then you shouldn’t be online at all as there’s little to no real privacy online. That’s just harsh reality that we can’t control although we can try and make the server a better place for roleplayers.
Sometimes this “let’s judge everyone who watches (no matter reasons behind it)” just comes off as real black-and-white thinking, like just pointing your eyes to your way is reprehensible social sin and should be punished. Punish those who actually show intention to interfere with the RP, pop their mammoth mounts and giant growth elixirs on your groups or yell like 5 years old children next to you, or those who watch your RP only to spread lowly gossip about it to the next person later.

So, sooo easier said than done tbf, especially with a community like, well, this.

You specifically mentioned people who only wanted to watch OOCly. Therefore my point still applies.

I seriously doubt some government agent is watching me play video games for his entertainment and if they were, I would be a little creeped out by the fact (and also angry, since it´s my taxpayer money that´s used for that guy´s salary, do something useful, man!). Once again, I am not a circus animal.

Someone who watches with intention to learn how RP works so they can try it later = white.
Someone who watches with no intention to ever RP = black.
It´s really not hard.

“Please use right click report function”
Yeah, because that totally works.

Something something pot, something something kettle.

It’s not easy, but if you want to actually get over your anxiety is the best remedy, nowhere in my post I said it was easy.

I don’t get it.

My comment is gesturing at the forums in general where people bicker on a daily basis for no good damn reason other than to get at people’s throats, harass others, stalk, alt find and post whatever bad things they can find on others. When someone new sees that and wants to RP? It doesn’t give a great impression.

I used to RP happily on AD without fear but watching over time it’s set my anxiety on high end because I never know if approaching a person will be a good experience in the end; I half expect people to want to bubble RP or start fights or force their ‘I am superior in every way’ sort of RP on me.

Just came off as “just do it” really. Which yea, I refuse to RP with strangers these days cause of anxiety. It sucks so much. with friends i’m fine with strangers though!

As someone who’s dealt with general and social anxiety my entire life, getting out of your shell and putting yourself in a social situation makes it easier for the next. It might not cure it, but it makes it more bearable and easier to handle in the long run.

Aye, but that first step… HNNGGHH. Can feel impossible for some :frowning: I know lots of people are approachable but others may not see that.

Social anxiety really has little to no cure tbh, all you can really do is… well get out of your Shell, refusing to do so only means you refuse to get better, the world and this community isn’t as bad as one makes them out to be.

I remember you sharing link to CoaD in thread about PCU pretty much as first (or second) comment on that thread.
Pot calling the kettle black, I say.

This has always been a thing among any big RP community (even small ones). AD didn´t change, your honeymoon period just ended.
