Tome of Cold Weather Flight Discussion

Tome of Cold Weather Flight is a Bind to Account item that can be purchased in Dalaran by a level 80 character and mailed to an alt, allowing them to fly in Northrend as early as level 68. It was introduced in patch 3.2.0 (ToC patch) back in original WotLK but it seems to be already available on the WotLK beta server.
Being just a beta server, Tome of Cold Weather Flight may be removed and introduced at a later phase but I would like to know what people think about the possibility of having it in game from the start. Of course it would be a massive quality of life factor but do you people see any downsides?

I guess it reduces the amount of world PvP after people have obtained a max level (80) character.

Can’t reduce something that doesn’t exist on almost all servers.

I don’t get it , my main (or the first char I’ll reach lvl 80) will have to learn cold weather the normal way but my alts will be able to start flying in Northrend the moment they sent foot there (after consuming the book ofc) ? Doesn’t make sense xD Well, it’s a big QoL i don’t mind having from the start but it’s something that doesn’t belong in phase 1 for sure

Your first character you’ll level will be able to learn Cold Weather Flight from the trainer at level 77 (the “high level zones” pretty much require flying to be navigated). Once the character reaches 80 it will be able to buy the book (which requires level 80 to buy and level 68 to use) for your other characters.
In original WotLK the book was introduced in what we will probably call “phase 3” (ToC patch) so it definitely did not belong in phase 1 but I learned how things are in the beta server and thought that this is a good topic to discuss.

All QOL of changes for alts should be in from start. The worst part about playing alts in (early) TBC was doing all rep/attu grinds, in recent years retail expansion got a lot of flack for being alt unfriendly as well. There is no reason to repeat those mistakes, especially since those issues were acknowledged in wotlk itself and solutions are in the game already.

As Wrath Classic is 3.3.0 of course it will be ingame from the start, and Blizz never understood the fun in patching anything but dungeons/raids.

I would - just as of course - like to see it implemented somewhere down the line not from launch. Those alts have to be hoofing it in the beginnning

Well, it’s official now! Tome of Cold Weather Flight will be in from phase one (article: https://worldofwarcraft.com/en-gb/news/23815384/wrath-of-the-lich-king-classic-flying-in-northrend), prepare to see high level zone flooded with level 70 druids mining and herbing starting from week 1! I’ll be there with them, by the way

We are getting cold weather flying tome and dual spec at start of wotlk classic, cause its 3.3.5a version of the game and those features were in game at that stage.

We are not getting RDF feature cause it wasnt the thing for the first patches of wotlk, even if we start with 3.3.5a version of wow in wotlk classic. The reason here is immersion, social experience.

Boting, instance boosting, rmt, buying boosts do not impact on immersion, social experience.

Yup, everythings fine with Blizzard logic, nothing to do here.
