Too many defensive abilities and heal for a DPS

Why a DPS have so many defensive abilities and can instant heal?
In BG it takes too much time to get rid of a pally that it allows the other team to reorganize. If there is one pally it can be done, but with two, they share too many defensive abilities that makes most operations impossible.
A DPS is a DPS, not a healer or a tank.

We could use more offensive utility, because we lack that in PVE. Our heals are useless in PVE 90% of time anyway - there is healer in the party. They are truly nice only in solo and PVP - but that’s not what exactly matters at the end of the day …until you only do PVP of course.

Yes, so, if paladins lack in offensive abilities, in PVE (they do more or less do the same damage as a warrior), why all these defensive abilities and heal, that mainly are used in PVP?

I would gladly give up on some of our healing capabilities for more DPS, as long as our survivability doesn’t take a hit. Melees have a hard enough time in M+ as it is right now. More damage, less healing, auto-bubble (like Legion) and CR (which to me makes sense both gameplay-wise and lore-wise) would be the dream. Oh yeah, and increased mobility, but I have given up on that a long time ago.

I think that we don’t actually need more mobility if they go further into “semi ranged and very durable DPS” route. We can’t have everything. I could accept even complete removal of WoG for Ret, making Selfless Healer a baseline and then eradicating that entire row to make it a set of PROPER defensives.

We also BADLY lack offensive utility, Ret is just too defensively oriented as DPS to be wanted by anyone in PVE. That offensive utility could boost our own pretty mediocre PVE DPS and also make Rets worthwhile for parties in general.

But this ain’t going to happen. Blizzard is so fixated on all Paladin specs to be basically the same thing (holy power, same skills, many same talents) without any special flavour for any of these specs that they will rather delete entire Paladin class from the game than think how to give every spec special flavour that this particular spec needs. Each spec should have different auras fitting their roles better, Ret should be less of a supportive healer and more like some kind of battle-priest that actually has something to offer when things are not going south.

Do you think that’s respect?? Do you think it’s respect?? This is not necessary to say “I’m excusing, master Paladin”
