So I’ve done ALL the quests in Zuldazar and Nazmir, including the Blood Gate questline. I’ve also completed the 1’st chapter in the War Campaign by securing a foothold in Kul’Tiras.
Now I only have Vol’dun left, and I can tell by experience, that it has A LOT of quests. Mainly side questlines.
And guess what level I am? 119 and 1/3. It’s kind of a pain, that I have one whole area left to do that’s probably worth 3-4 levels, before I’m done with Zandalar.
I should note, that I’ve had Warmode turned on (For PvP talents) the whole time, so I’ve basically had a 10% experience buff the whole way. BUT I didn’t do any bonus objectives and being a rogue, I didn’t kill any more creatures than necessary.
So my question is: Why did Blizzard put sooo many leveling quests in this expansion?
If we should compare it to Legion, then there were a lot less quests, especially side quests.
Some players actually like doing quests. Side-quests are for those people!
Some players actually like the questing story narrative. Big narrative? Yay!
Having too many quests gives players choice. If there’s 3 zones available and you only need to do 2, then you can pick and choose as you please. Makes leveling alts less repetitive, yay!
Something like that.
No, Legion has a few hundred quests more than BfA (if I look at Wowhead). But the comparison is weird. BfA splits its questing content between factions, whereas Legion split it between classes (Class Order Halls).
And Legion unlocked more questing in Suramar over time, with BfA it’s the War Campaign.
In the end it’ll probably result in the same amount of quests for both expansions.
It’s been the case for many expansions. Can’t speak for TBC and Wrath but since Cata there have been more quests that you need to get to max level. Now with you choosing a zone to level in it’s realy good for leveling alts. You can just level multiple character and each one in different zone. If you combine it with doing dungeons you’ll hit max level before even finishing one zone.
Also you don’t have to do every side quest you encounter. Many people do and that’s for them. If you don’t like it just focus on the main ones, they are pretty quick to do.
I think a lot of it is because BfA splits the zones between Horde and Alliance. So even though you have 6 zones, you really only have 3 when you’re leveling.
On the flip-side it feels really awesome when you switch from one faction to the other and you suddenly have a whole new gameplay experience ahead of you.
I think I managed to get through 2 zones on my Horde alt, and then did Vol’dun whilst being level 120. I didn’t mind it though, I liked the story and wanted to see what it all culminated in.
I don’t recall Legion being that much better for me personally. You really only had 4 zones there to level in: Azsuna, Val’sharah, Highmountain, and Stormheim.
It gave a more varied re-playability on alts for sure. One extra zone makes for more combinations.
But the narrative felt less cool than the BfA zones. In BfA it feels like Zandalar is tailor-made to a Horde character, and Kul Tiras is tailor-made to an Alliance character.
Running around in Val’sharah as a Horde character, doing quests for Night Elves, was a bit weird. And likewise with helping the Highmountain Tauren as an Alliance character, that felt a bit strange. Of course it was all driven by the “Collect Titan Artifacts!” narrative, but still… I kinda like the story of the zones in BfA better.
I’ve done 8 Horde and I’m just really really bored now. I will probably need to abuse the assaults at some stage.
I am currently working on my Dark Iron Dwarf now I’ve managed to unlock them. The WM bonus is working wonders I will have plenty of opportunity to vary her journey when I hit BfA, providing I make it. I’m notoriously bad at losing the will to live with the new scaled levelling. We will see. Fingers crossed.
Haha! Yeah I can imagine that. Whilst I’ll white knight the replayability of WoW’s leveling experience quite a bit, I do think it gets a tad repetitive and boring after a few times – let alone 8!
There are also non-questing options to level through. I know I’ve leveled a Warrior to 80 in the past through Battlegrounds alone, which was super fun (providing you like Battlegrounds!). And there’s dungeons as well. And Pet Battles even.
I wonder if the Warmode experience bonus applies to those?
Too many quests? i remind when you have to do the quests in old eastern plaguelands for Tirion Fordring. That were too many quests. And you havent any clue where to look for.
Now the questline horde side is ok (i dont like voldun) but alliance after some i can die of boring. The ones scatterede here and there are just useless imho.
And with alts im not so interested to redo again and again. 1st time that happens: in legion i did the farondis questline 5 times.
I totally agree. I was level 120 after completing 1.5 BfA zones.
What bothers me is that we’re forced to complete a good chunk of all 6 BfA zones to unlock World Quests, Warfronts (I think), and 2 extra dungeons (King’s Rest and Siege of Boralus - I’ll probably never unlock this one). The quests are so extremely boring and repetitive. I’d rather clean my apartment and do laundry than complete these quests!
because if you only had a small number, everyone would whine omg no quests omg lol like omg and like lol omg like omg and lol and yknow like omg lol and omg like yknow lol omg fail omg like omg lol fail omg like omg like lmfao like omg and yknow like omg fail omg lol omg like yknow omg lol like omg fail lmfao omg like omg and lol like omg. that’s why
