Too many Void elf rpers

Except this is a fantasy setting where half the human characters have fantasy names bordering on being similar to elven. I genuinely doubt that’s an explanation any of these people has ever used.

Please keep them, unless they roll gnomes ofcourse, then I’d welcome the long lost sheep like the sheppard I am.

gnomes are worse than void elves >:(

All races are equally bad, because its the same people behind the screen, no?

Watch it, you have dozens of gnomes working on Dark Iron tech, wouldn’t want a “accident” where they turn on the Dark Irons, do you?

Considering it’s pretty much always the same usual suspects attempting to do some sort of “persecution/night of the broken glass” rp I do suspect there’s something more at play than “lol my human character is just like garithos”. Especially when it’s not just been once or twice, but this has gone on multiple separate occasions where the same characters are engaging in the newest, latest pogrom against whatever race happens to incur the displeasure of whomever the mysterious ringleader behind all this is.

If it’s not lynching void elves from trees, it’s inciting riots. If it’s not extra-judicial execution of allies, it’s leering around street corners waiting to “ambush” dissenters.

Thankfully the nonsense seems to have calmed down now that the main throng seem to have realised the Alliance isn’t the faction for thinly veiled real life motivations driven RP - the red side is already seeping from the sides with that.

Okay but more serious response, it comes across as though y’all think that it’s rare for people to RP controversial things just because controversial things are a fun thing to write about. pls advice on whether this is actually the implicitly implied implication or not.

Controversial things are fun, when they are done well.

Rarely in WoW RP are said things written well, planned well, or given more thought than ‘hey it would be fun to spout slightly changed racist head lines and memes!’.

Yeah, no one ever has stubbed their toe on a Void elf.

We have a dark past in rp but the path to redemption is a short one

Ugh I hate myself

At least Gnomes aren’t useless.

Elves already do that by translating their surname into other languages when speaking to other races (which is pretty much the only logical lore explanation of elven surnames made out of English words).
Besides, we are not talking about one elf living in Stormwind and getting their name pronounced wrong, so they change it to something that sounds more Common, their entire race pretty much lives in Telogrus and Stormwind, so they definitely have a community there.

On top of that, all Highborne seem to be pretty full of themselves (in general), so the idea of one Highborne group deciding to change their names completely to better fit into society of a race that has been their ally for few months top in the lore is just absurd.

How would you give your elf an elven surname anyway? Should I use what Manaleaf looks like to non-Elven races? Will it always translate the same?

You’d probably use Manaleaf, since your are speaking common and presumbly translating said name to common?

True, and if you put on the Thalassian tab, you just say it in Thalassian anyway.

I wouldn´t. As I said, elves seem to be translating most of their surnames into Common, so, if my elf´s surname would be Sunstrider in Thalassian, he would also translate it as Sunstrider when speaking common. Basically, there is no need to ever translate those surnames into Thalassian because their Thalassian forms are only used when speaking the language.

Yeah, that’s what I meant.

Then again, you have people like Eirdarias with really elvish names as surnames :o

? I don’t translate my RL name to english either when I introduce myself, what the h*ckle are you talking about?
