BfA sucked, yes, but the zones were beautiful created. You could really feel that you are in WoW. Legion zones were also good.
But in Shadowlands? I literally don’t even remember the big quests i’ve been done in the zones. They are not “ugly”, but … they are disconnected from WoW if that makes sense. I know, I know, we are in Afterlife, but that’s not the point. They are … forgettable! I don’t remember a place from all this zones, except the ones from Revendreth, because they are connect to Vampires, including the NPC names and all this reminds me of Transylvania, which is in my country!
Shadowlands it might get better as it goes on or it becomes the worst expansion ever ill judge it when it is on its last patch but for now it really doesn’t look promising. I really hate this continuation of constantly reinventing the wheel with new watered out boring borrowed power systems.
SL also feels like everything is pointless especially the covenants.
Legion it could have been better but because of artifact power i just had to take a break as i had no interest at all for the boring grind before they made it faster.
BfA same as legion i disliked it before the first patch because grinding for the heart of azeroth was so slow and boring. Some people hated corruptions but to me that was one of the most fun thing about bfa.
Yeah, I know. Unpopular choices as everyone supposedly loved BC but I spent a lot of it unsubbed as I didn’t get into it at all.
Shadowlands I’m not getting into really at all. Tried the raid with the guild but only went once as they just seem to be full of trash to slow slow slow you down. Too much travelling about with excessive mobs everywhere to slow you down even more. And as for Torg, NO!
Legion I didn’t like much either. Class halls didn’t do it much for me and I only ever got 1 char max level and didn’t even bother raiding as I really didn’t feel it. Still avoid it when I’m levelling, now we can.
As for BFA, I’m shouting out in its defence as it’s one of the better expansions by far, for me. The levelling side on Alliance is much more interesting than Horde, tbh, but the rest was pretty good apart from that corruption stuff. I ignored that completely.
Worst:
Shadowlands by a big margin at the moment, so many nonsensical decisions its hard to know where to start when criticising it.
BFA, never really got going.
MOP.
Best:
TBC
Vanilla
WOTLK, although it was this expansion that started the rot.
Completely agree here. The zones are so packed and cramped they are effectively rendered virtually featureless. Not a single quest or fight stood out for me, it was all very meh, just something to get over and done with as quickly as possible.
i was forced at gunpoint to play back then my whole guild switch from the glorious everquest to this trash it took several expansions before it could even compare to everquest
This is a very interesting fact. I never thought about this. Now I understand why the players are constantly attacking him
Btw, I have never had a problem with WoD. I had a few full geared chars, I mostly played pvp, the balance was better, the class design was much better than in recent years. I had enough side things to do if I didn’t want to play pvp, and the most important thing is that I wasn’t forced to do anything, I only did what I wanted and when I wanted. There were no piles of unnecessary systems. The theme and story of the expansion was a bit messed up, but it was still interesting and exciting to me to have the opportunity to meet and see the ancient world of orcs. The zones and quests were great. Overall, I was very pleased with that expansion, but I understand why many people weren’t.
In many ways every expansion is worse than the last. The game seems to feel more and more of a task completion simulator rather than a fantasy second world. So often I think to myself “Why am I doing this?” with no thought to been drawn in to the atmosphere of the landscape or gameplay in general.
For me Mythic+ has destroyed 5-mans, irrevocably transforming them into arcade rush smash-em-ups.
