Torture RP. I hate it. Whenever you are taken to be interrogated, for some reason the torture implements come right out. And this I have seen with so called ‘good-guy’ guilds. Though it is not a specific type of RPer, it is still a form or RP that I hate.
This is a pet peeve for me too. Plus, you just know some of the people who suddenly introduce torture to guard/prisoner RP are getting off on it, which makes it even more uncomfortable.
It seem to be…a thing in certain guilds & communities. Lets not forget the random torture & humiliation kink group RP/ERP an entire guard guild did towards a female guard a couple of years ago, which got leaked on the forums.
And from what I’ve heard regarding RP-PvP campaigns, there seem to be a couple of people who wishes to do things like this/or have it done to them as well as PoWs.
Just, no. Stop.
I do faintly recall that abdd being told the story. Though RP like that yoy can easily say no.
Of course, but you can also say that there is and probably was some peer pressure involved, since it was like 10+ people who were all onboard it.

It’s very easy to just say “say no” etc, but its alot more difficult in actuality. Especially with more people involved, physcological pressure etc etc.
Jokes aside, I can see cyberbullying and peer pressure happening in RP especially in specific smaller communities. Granted, AD is massive and makes ostracizing someone really difficult because there are tons of players who are not even slightly connected to one´s current community.
But, if you for one reason or another want to belong to a group, you might end up caving in to their demands even if it makes you uncomfortable, especially if telling people “no” and noping out of a situation is hard for you (a.k.a., you are a teenager).
You’re right - this is totally what happens. Younger people who want to be accepted by the “cool” guild accede to their creepy sadism roleplay, especially if there are a bunch of older peers around them telling them that it’s normal/not sexual/just part of mature roleplaying.
There are few things more disconcerting than being a young girl in roleplay communities, looking back at something that happened to you a few years ago, and thinking, “oh, that guy was getting off on that”.
Graphic torture RP simply doesn’t belong on the game. The best way to resolve it happening in roleplay is, as usual, to fade-to-black and discuss in broad strokes what happened and what the result was.
I don’t include various forms of ‘magical torture’ in this, because it’s a lot easier to be vague in your terminology when you describe using dark magic to invade someone’s mind or curse them, and so on.
Setting someone on fire and describing the crackling flesh and the stench of burning is a no-go though.
