Well thankfully RPers don’t get paid for the drama they stir.
I wish we were, because I’d start crazily stirring the pot again
The only good WoW content creators left are Savix & Anboniwow.
Also when I used to pug raids Hazelnutty’s guides were 200000000% better than Finalboss’s.
Additionally about Asmongold specifically I think his content has only gotten worse over time but I still see it as very noble & admirable thing that he takes care of his sick mother which tells enough to me about his character.
So many posts about “This creator vs that creator”. Weird.
I watch most, Bellular, Pyromancer, Taliesin and Nobbel, even Asmongold.
The only thing that factors in my decision. “Do I find this guy entertaining?” and that’s that.
I enjoy watching her vids. Even though I don’t do pet battles it’s nice to listen to someone who seems to adore doing them.
As a carer myself it’s something I respect about him as well.
Generally my thinking too. I think most of Asmon’s fanbase stink but I enjoy watching the man himself from time to time.
Who cares about Asmons fanbase? All it is, is a chat that runs by too fast to read anyway, I don’t watch him for them.
I don’t watch Asmongold but YouTube seems to think I’m really, really, really into watching him react to things
Yeah fortunately they’re easy to ignore.
That’s all that matters in the end. You do you. Personally I don’t care either Pyromancer nor Nobbel because of their weird self-branded lore guru schtick that is plain wrong given their inaccuracies which could have been easily fact checked with a Ctrl + F.
In 2014 Exaviel had his Nth Scarlets are valid members of the Alliance and you can’t convince him otherwise because of his interpretation based on a twitter exchange he had with Nobbel. Nobbel said that yes Scarlets are cool and loved by the Alliance and super friendly with Stormwind and Exaviel took that as irrefutable proof.
Except Metzen made an official ruling way back in the day that contradicts all that.
Depends ! Some are true edgelords but one of the best Rp player I regularly encounter is very nice IC and OOC, His nickname is Mr.Blue by the way.
Bellular is the only WoW YT channel I have blocked. Not that his content is bad, but it’s full of spoilers, even the thumbnails. Even when he starts a video with “there will be no spoilers” he spoils stuff.
I actually do watch a bunch of other creators though. And I think there is still a point to videos on news: partly they’re opinion pieces, partly because videos often come out a bit later in the news cycle or contain more compiled information: so there might be bits from interviews, or references to older stuff and speculation, etc. It’s more useful than just a basic list of what was announced. They also speculate on stuff, whether it’s lore or gameplay, which I also find interesting, and it gives a better rounded view at what might be coming than just the raw information.
Also, machinimas are funny.
Relatable.
I make too many jokes and I’m way too sassy to RP a DK. Sad.
I agree in ten characters.
“BLOCKED by a GNOME MAIN: Is my channel GOING DOWN? Will I be able to AFFORD FOOD tonight?!”
Youtubers/creators hit a critical mass and then they become sorta intolerable, and manage to get away with things because of it. Throwback to sodapoppin’s AD raids and the hundreds of level 1s following him about /y’ing racial slurs through Silvermoon.
Yeah, that was grim, and just…kind of reaffirmed in my mind that the majority (Not all!, but the majority) of the fans of Streamers are just generally unpleasant people who need to be told what to think. Doesn’t matter if it is nice or nasty, the amount of times I have seen on threads “Well Asmongold says” or “Well Bellular says” Who gives a hot damn? Their only credibility is what people lavishly give them! Half of them don’t know the lore behind the game, have clearly never played it for as long as most of us, and jump on the cause de jour to gain numbers. “Oh Heck, people don’t like X aspect? I better release a ‘funny’ video saying I don’t like X aspect too!”
Genuinely part of the worst aspects of MMORPG’s is Streamers. Don’t try and say “They come up with some good points though”
No, they don’t. They scan the forums, see the cause celebre and make fat money out of their followers by repeating their own views to them. It is amazing. In no other industry can you make money by selling people’s own ideas back to them. And I say this as someone who works in Audio Book Narration, I am literally reading someone elses book, putting context and voice to it, and selling it back to them. Even -THAT- is more honest that Streamers.
So really, who cares about Streamers? I mean, who cares who actually is a sort of person you could have a conversation with?
Read some Total RP3 profiles while being in Stormwind and Orgrimmar.
How big your breasts or how muscular you are isn’t part of your character’s background.
Actually sometimes they describe them so big that the character carrying them becomes part of the background.
