Torghast "git gud"

Each time I’ve attempted layer 2 now, I could not defeat the boss before reset.

I’m sure I could beat the boss eventually with enough practice, but what’s frustrating me the most is the time wasted on all those floors getting there over and over. There’s absolutely nothing interesting about them. The exact same easy mobs over and over and over and over again in each run and on each floor. And even though they are easy, as an affliction warlock they still take ages to get through.

The only rogue like game I’ve ever played is Binding of Isaac so my knowledge of rogue likes is probably limited, but even if I died from a boss, I remember at least enjoying all the rooms themselves. I could play that game over and over again and it always felt fresh.

Top tip. If by floor 3 you have a poor stack of powers and the boss you’re facing at the end is notorious, scrap the run and reset.

Trust me.

You’ll hit lucky soon.

Sure, you can get bad luck with your run, but that’s compensated by knowing (or at least being able to know) exactly what you get when you finish it.
In other content, you don’t know if and what you get, and instead of doing it over and over until you finish it and get your stuff, you do it over and over, always finishing it, until you get your stuff.

And yes, there could definitely be more diversity to it.
Even the different wings don’t seem that different from each other except.

Just grab a m8 or 2 and do it in a small group. Its allot more fun that way.

Drag Drain Life on your Skill Bar and use it when you see your green thing starting to disappear… Also all Torghast Powers should be aimed to stand against the last Boss. For now.

I honestly didn’t feel I had a poor stack of powers in any of my runs really … Maybe I just haven’t had a good one to know that lol

“Just” tho yeah, maybe this isn’t meant to be solo content and I’m being deceived by the easy mobs. I tried layer 3 once and I could tell immedietly playing in a group would be better.

It’s there and I was using it. The problem is trying to not get my fingers tangled up while figuring out when to use my spells at the right time so I don’t get killed by the mechanics. I get better with each attempt though and actually enjoy that. In the last one I was trying to deal with Meathook. I got out my interrupt demon but its cooldown was too long so I’d still get hooked eventually and killed in just a few hits. Even while typing this I’m having some ideas on how to get around that, but still, that I have to go through that snore fest to get to the boss is making me reluctant to even try again.

Use your portals and CC. Use slowing Curse.

Not everything is a ‘git gud’ issue. Some classes are struggling and they’ve been doing some tweaking:-

Torghast, Tower of the Damned

  • Reduced the damage of Observer Zelgar’s Ocular Beam on higher Layers.
  • Mawsworn Shadestalkers called in by Torments have had their health reduced by 30%.
  • Mawsworn Seekers called in by Torments have had their damage reduced by 15%.
  • The Brokers working in Torghast will now bring with them some Stygian Stew for those brave adventurers that find themselves without refreshments.
  • Deadsoul Chorus now appears less frequently within a single floor.
  • Reduced the drop rate of Edgelurker and Protective Phantasma anima powers.
  • Monk
    • Anima Powers
      • Resolved an issue that prevented the Tiger Style and Crane Style buffs by Tiger and Crane Figurines from providing the correct amount of Mastery, Versatility, Critical Strike, and Haste.
  • Rogue
    • Anima Powers
      • Organized Vial Satchel now reduces the cooldown of Crimson Vial by 10 seconds per stack (was 5 seconds) and has a max stacks of 3, for 30 seconds cooldown reduction (instant cast vials).
      • Restless Onyx Geodes now grants 15 seconds of Cloak of Shadows, Evasion, Feint, or Crimson Vial when casting Shadowstep or Grappling Hook (was 3 seconds).
      • Scroll of Forewarning now has a max stack of 3 and now increases the duration of Evasion, Feint, Cloak of Shadows, and Vanish by 3/6/9 seconds (was a 1 second increase).
      • Leather Apron is now Common rarity.
      • Leather Apron now has a max stack of 2 and decreases a target’s damage dealt by 15/30% after recovering from your crowd control abilities (was a flat 10%).
      • Quicksilver Mixture is now in the defense category.
      • Quicksilver Mixture now grants Cloak, Evasion, or Feint for 6 seconds when casting Crimson Vial (was 4 seconds).
  • Warrior
    • Anima Powers
      • Periapt of Furor now increases the duration of Berserker Rage by 300% (was 100%), and now stacks up to 2 times (was 3 times).
      • Hurricane Heart now causes Whirlwind and Thunder Clap to heal for 80% of damage dealt (was 50%), and now stacks up to 3 times (was 5 times).
      • Unbound Fortitude now increases the duration of a major defensive ability by 20% per stack of Soul Remnant’s Blessing (was 10%), and now stacks up to 3 times (was 5 times).
      • Bladed Bulwark now makes Ignore Pain have a 50% chance to cast your major defensive ability (was 20%), and no longer stacks.

The powers you get are also very RNG at times. Runs can feel very different depending on what I get. The first week I had to help a friend on his Warrior get through layer 3.

nice - now easy runs will become even easier !!

thats good news because with those and more coming in incoming weeks i will be able to get 1 or 2 levels more done when tower fully opens

Can’t seem to use my portal after being hooked. Yeah some combination of CCs might do it. Had a power that slowed enemies affected by my corruption which was neat but useless for the boss.

  1. Some higher quality gear would help. I think i ran the first 3 with about the ilvl gear as you and it was doable. But that’s just impatience and I main a BM hunter and those are kind of on the verge of being OP if not beyond it at this point.

  2. I’d consider trying it within a group context. Even then 1. Is still a good idea if you don’t want to get boosted to much. Soloing this is not a requirement so why not try it a different way.

  3. Abandoning a run midway is ok if the rng is against you.

  4. It’s still early release. So expect it to get tuned. If you have the patience to wait and won’t feel left behind there is no shame to coming back later to it.

Anytime you get stuck it’s worthwhile to consider if there is some other area of the game that you can push with your character that will make stuff you don’t enjoy more of a pushover.

Apologies if this is generic and all of the above has probably occurred to you. I can’t offer any class specific help as warlock really isn’t my thing.

i tripped at the last boss of layer 3 and have decided to gear a little before going back in.

Can wait until they tweak hunter powers too, right now are crap and way worst that those of any other class. half of them are useless and only 1/3 can be used against the final boss. Some runs it is like going there without any buff.

I feel the same to be honest. Most BM hunter powers focus on traps while they are totally useless. Luckily on floor 3 I can always buy useful ones from the trader.

Still Thorghast is easy as hell.

from a dev’s perspective it’s insanely hard to design a challenge that’s equally challenging and compelling to the 40-ish specs in the game. I truly applaud blizzard for making this step.
have some patience while they fine tune it and tailor it for everyone

I see lot of players using git gud Even for mage tower i heard alot of git gud

Thanks for the replies and suggestions.
I pretty much made this thread out of anger and tiredness, and I may have been letting my anger out on the mobs. Might have been happier if I had actually been able to defeat the boss, dunno.
I’ll wait and see what Blizzard does.

Once we have ways to gear up I feel we not gonna struggle that much anymore Right now there no good ways for gear lfr isnt out Mythic 0 is out but i think the gear there is slighty better then heroic dungeons
