So the jump in difficulty from layer 7 to Layer 8 feels a bit much? Layer 7 feels like its designed for around 175-185ilvl whereas Layer 8 seems to be much higher, hazarding a guess at 210ilvl+ geared characters. Higher for the playerbase who don’t use their class to the fullest.
I thought the idea behind higher layers in torghast was more designed around playing your class and spec (whatever the class and spec) to a decent degree (maybe not everyone but atleast the majoirty of the playerbase) to obtain soul ash. Right now, the only people that will clear layer 8 are the upper echelon of the playerbase, ie, those in high ilvl gear, playing at a high level and generally playing a more torghast Meta spec relative to the amount of more overpowered anima powers available to them (can probably mix and match these, playing a low ilvl but super torghast op class+spec+powers will be doable for example). I thought this would be more of a thing for infinite tower climbing rather than the required amount for optimal soul ash.
It’s fine if it is, most players will lose out of 160 soul ash a week, which isn’t too bad, its 1 less legendary at a low ilvl every 8 weeks. Just the jump of difficulty feels so sudden compared to previous layers.
Also, about the classes with small amounts of cc to interrupt spells…Pardon my non-french but, are they just &*$%ed? Like, “Sry br0, player a better class next time, lolz” I think i’d quit the expansion already.
Thoughts? Feelings? Will Castlevania Season 4 come out sooner if we take back all the Anime from the Jailor?
I hate being that guy but if I can do it everyone should be able to. I’m only at 190 on an arms warrior(with some grade A trinkets) and my toolkit is not as vast as some classes and managed just fine.
Did it take longer? Yeah it did, I even died twice but got back and figured out what to do differently. I picked mostly survivability powers and even used some cc to wait for CDs and/or healing to kick in.
It’s definitely doable and imo even if it wasn’t, it would be something to aspire to and work towards. Just do a lower level and work your way up to it.
That being said, I definitely wouldn’t mind Torghast offering more than dust and pets.
Of the normal wings, yes. I’m quite disappointed by the difficulty, I expected it to be harder after doing it on the beta with the premade chars during torghast testing. Now I have better gear than those characters did on the beta and I have the covenant I wanted to play, even after the buffs to torghast it didn’t come close to the difficulty on beta, due to gear and covenant choice.
As it stands right now as a ilvl 190 vengeance DH i’m failing several soft enrages (elite stacking debuff hitting 15+) in upper reaches. I’m waiting for my Last Resort each time, I promise you I’m using my Interrupt, sigil interrupt, sigil fear, imprison, LoS, Fiery brand, fel devastation, literally everything in order to cheese as much interrupt mechanics as possible and yet still to no avail.
Its probably a spec/class thing, but imo, any required content for optimal soul ash shouldn’t be gated around playing a meta, the game itself already is around a meta. On top of the jump between my fracture chambers 7 to upper reaches 8 being leaps and bounds different. Maybe its a torghast floor thing, maybe Upper Reaches isn’t meant for tanks, my point still stands.
I would say its DEFINITELY overtuned. Im currently 197 ilvl. Im not a pro, but im definitely a decent or better player for sure (means im pulling the damage i sim). There is no way in hell for me to kill the gatekeepers without time warp. They two shot me, so i have to kite. While kiting, my damage dwindle ofc and utility to kite runs out because they have too much health. Eventually reachen 10 stacks of whatever its called. At that point they get immune to cc. BAM BAM, two melee swings and im dead.
Once i reached floor 4, i met a caster gatekeeper. i have 24 sec CD on interrupt. That mini boss dunked me when i had blown halfway through his hp. Its literally impossible. Also i don’t fancy having to wait for CDs for the elite mobs either.
Dunno if it’s overtuned, but it’s pretty rng based, if you get good powers you can blast it with ease but if you get constant dumb mawrat powers you’re kinda screwed for the last boss, I did layer 7 but I got really bad powers on layer 8 so I just left
The end boss of layer 5 is so fkin ridiculous, I would love to know how the Blizzard QA team tested and signed off on this as beatable after 4 weeks of Shadowlands.
Whole of Torghast is overtuned.
People are playing it just to get soul ash for legendaries, but high layers feel like playing +10 Mythic Sanguine Depths.
I’d rather spend my whole life slaving off doing 8.3 dailies for soul ash than this bs
everything there feels really strange scaling wise
for example its beyond ridiculous that it scales more for teams then for solo players , the amount of death you get in group is also scaled strangley - if solo you have 4 deaths as 5 man you should have 20 deaths shouldnt you - you have 14 .
it really shows now how rushed this expansion was - we are effectively playing late beta atm
